A panic occurred on the capitol's orbit today when a powerful explosion cut Itabashi station in half, causing the last addition to New Tokyo gravity well infrastructures to turn into a cluster of debris soon to lose orbit stability.

Orbit traffic has been momentarily restricted as rescue ships were sent to attempt locating and saving members of the personnel working on the station. However, according to our expert Kuwayama Takashi, a renowned architect specialized in space structures, the chances to find people to rescue at this point might be very low. Kuwayama-san expressed his doubts about wether safety airlocks designed to isolate sections of the station could have succeeded preventing a complete decompression for a hull breach this wide.

The other priority of government agencies is to ensure orbital safety for transiting traffic, as well as limiting debris falling down on planet New Tokyo, which may be dangerous for the population and the infrastructures planet-side. As controversy raged, aggravated by the fact Gas Miner Guild convoys had been targeted by Itabashi's defense grid, the Diet eventually ordered the station to be administered by Samura Keiretsu, which claimed ownership until this day.

Meanwhile, Kusari State Police announced an investigation would be made in order to find the cause of this accident.

Crazy rumors have been heard in the spires of Shibuya's distric as of late. There is no doubt investigators will have a hard time finding who is responsible of this disaster no matter, as the explosion probably destroyed whatever proofs present, and the high orbit cleaning process, judged as priority, will limit the chances to gather pieces of evidences.
