Background The Defilers have been a rather well hidden but successful group of pirates. They were organised and rather sophisticated. During their active time they gathered a huge amount of weapons, prototypes and research materials. Since they struck many deep space installations and convoys there, finding evidence of them is difficult but not impossible. They eventually retreated into a distant system, beginning to build an installation that ought to harbor all their treasures and serve as a base of operations.
Eventually the jump hole connections died down and an attempt by the groups leaders to create one ended in their death. The group now consists of aimless pirates without organisation, wielding ships they enhanced with all the things found in the depths of their station "The Moon". Until the last remaining leader wakes up from cryo sleep their organisation is a mess of raiding parties.
