CommID: Simone DeLacroix, Police Royale Gauloise
Location: Gap station, Dauphine
Recipient: Marine Royale Gauloise
Subject: URGENT - Picardy

Bonjour

Honorable members of La Marine high command. I am Simone DeLacroix, Brigadier-major de Police, and the one who is going to inform you about a matter of high importance.

The system of Picardy is under heavy pressure and I deemed necessary to inform you about it. Few days ago the battleship class of The Council was spotted in proximity of Saint-Quentin space colony which is supervised by La Police.

Due to high danger and possible counter of this threat I would love to ask you for one(1) Normandy class ship, this class is on the edge of its service and La Police would love to retrofit one of these vessels instead of planning deconstruction these vessels are going to experience soon. We would be able to counter heavily armored vessels of the Council. It would also serve as the back up of Saumur located in this system, which serves as the academy and should not be destroyed.

I've got also request regarding Lorraine system where trade lane connections are supervised by La Marine, thus La Police officers are not able to track smugglers there. I am aware it used to be the battleground, however since Champagne gate was sealed and set as connection between Lorraine and Burgundy, situation got calmer. Hence why I requested such change in order to get rid of the smugglers, like the ones Monsieur Pattulacci could tell you about.

For our Roi! For our Kingdom!

Montlaville appears onscreen with the usual cup of steaming dark coffee. Her face displays levels of irritation and anger a little higher than her already significant average.

Madame,

The High command of the Marine Royale has unanimously decided against your request. And good thing too : I would have been worried as to the sanity of my colleagues otherwise.

She pauses, and lights a Gauloise cigarette.

Let's rephrase your... Question. You, a major of the royal police, would like full access to a Valeur-class battleship... In order to repeal the Council's heavily armoured vessels, that you fear are on the attack in Picardy. The argument behind this being that the sensors of Saint-Quentin, a station indeed under YOUR responsibility, has picked the signature of a Conseillard battleship.

Let me make a few points there.
Our venerable Normandie-type battleships are indeed approaching the end of their service life. But they can still be of use, and even then, do you know what happens when a ship is scrapped ? It generates scrap. Scrap that can be repurposed. Into what, you might ask ? That's right. MORE VALEURS.
I like the idea of having more Valeurs. I detest the idea of handing out a Valeur to a disreputable police force that has, in the past, found many ways to harm itself and the Kingdom using only light fighters. To simply imagine a police battleship... You'd have a mutiny on your hands within minutes, with half the crew deciding to become brigand lords and terrorise the border worlds. Assuming we even manage to train enough of your colleagues to be capable crew members of one such ship, which is not the same as typing reports and pocketing money on the side from smugglers.

Ultimately, major, a Valeur is a Valeur. A Normandie would probably not stack up against those new monstrosities the Bretonians have somehow coughed up from their meager resources, or the Libertonian behemoths funded on the misery of an entire people... But it is still a thing of ultimate power. I can't begin to imagine what would become of it in the hands of thousands of your colleagues. I'll be honest with you, major : if it were up to me, there would be one of my men watching the moves of every one of yours. Le Grand Nettoyage has gone deep and rid us of the most prominent of those brigands in police uniforms... But old habits die hard and the actions of your service have yet to convince me that everything has changed.

Finally, a reminder : know your place. To keep law and order, catch smugglers, arrest a few of those every so often when your sense of integrity permits it. Defending Gallic space against enemy battleships is the MRG's prerogative and, dare I say, specialty. And should you really need to stand up to a massive Conseillard attack fleet that the Marine somehow failed to see coming, you have complete access to destroyers and battlecruisers. Fielding those with policemen as crew seems a daunting enough task to me, but I didn't make that call. These should be more than enough to repeal those heavily armoured foes you speak of with such passion.

She lights another cigarette.

I trust I've made myself clear, major. Regarding your other request, that seems very sensible. Lorraine is far from our focus at the moment and our presence there is insignificant. I will see what I can do for you. Be a shame to let those rich, juicy smugglers roam freely, yes ?

You're dismissed, major. Get back to your cases, show me results, and perhaps the royal police will find credibility in my eyes.

She nods at someone off-screen, and the transmission fades.

Bonjour

Exactly this behaviour drove off most of LA Police force, and I finally get why. You are sticking your fingers where you shouldn't and you should be careful before they get cut off, Amiral. I will act like I haven't heard all of that crap you've just said about LA Police, which is doing its best and entirely removed corruption after the battle of Languedoc and Dauphine when The Council managed to break through.

Should I also point out it was LA Marine order to protect airlocks of Gap station? And because of LA Marine these LA Police and LA Marine defenders who managed to keep station under our control perished while thrown into space? Bourgon-Jalileu? Should I proceed with the list of your mistakes which coated LA Police several hundreds of people?

Nowadays it's again YOUR failure that The Council battleship is camping at San Quentin, it's your speciality after all, I just asked for a Normandy class, supervised by LA Marine and Police together. A simple no would be alright, we will get back to catching smugglers and leave war to you, which you apparently cannot fight everywhere.

And one more thing, get rid of your GN group. That was the reason police began corrupted at first place as you took away our jurisdiction and officers were working almost for free and had nothing to do.

Speak with that tone once again, and I guarantee you, The Council won't be your only problem inside. Those who treat us like nothing but Brigands, should be treated likewise, Admiral. Have a nice day and think about what you are going to say next time.

For our Roi! For our Kingdom!
