You have needless polygons on the engines that won't even be visible. Remove them to greatly reduce the polycount.

@TheBadPandaMan Noted, once I figure out what I actually want to do with the design, I'll remove some of the intricate details, such as the tiny lines on the top half of the engines and other parts.

//New model has copy / paste engines on the back half, and removed the dorsal "fin" to test something, not sure I like the top / tail engine section at the moment. Poly count significantly reduced. Will update this further when I have time.

I counted 12 engines. Twelve! We haven't had a small ship in the game with that many engines since the good ol' Moldy Crow Star Wars fighter. Do want.

It's coming along rather nicely so far! I've been keeping up with this thread this past week and you've made some significant improvements since the initial model. It's starting to give off the appearance of an armored personnel drop ship. As far as stats are concerned, perhaps something more balanceable would be something similar to the Ragnar or Pelican? I suppose the question is thus: Do you want the capability of mounting transport guns (Pelican), or do you want an increased cruise speed (Ragnar)? With all of those engines, I would lean towards a Ragnar-like design - Fighter guns/turrets with a transport shield.

It might be possible to allow for a single transport turret for flak, or gunboat turret for Silencer missiles, but that really depends on how big this thing is. The smallest ship in the game I can think of with flaks is the Gallic Assault Transport. Something even smaller with a flak or even a gunboat missile might be a tad overpowered, especially if it can also mount 2 LF guns.

Would this ship have a CD slot? If not, I could see the missile being possible, since on its own, you wouldn't be able to lock a target down. I guess the main question right now is, how big is this thing? Any chance you could upload a side-by-side comparison to say, the Dromedary?

Finally, I may suggest updating your original post with the updated model. It'd be handy for new viewers to see the latest version!

@"Sand_Spider" Good Questions.

The initial ship specs I had in mind for my own personal use in SP were:

  1. (2) Class 6 Guns = Imp Deb MK2
  2. (4) Class 9 Guns = Archangels
  3. (1) Transport / Gunboat Turret (Silencer Missile / Basic GB Missile)
  4. (1) CM Dropper
  5. (1) SHF / Transport Shield (Freighter) or Gunboat Shield
  6. (1) Thruster (Cheetah)
  7. (1) Cap 4 / Cap 6 Armor. Cap armor seems to have changed since I last played.

This is because my .84 - .85 Spatial had Imp deb mk2 turrets, purple goddess chain guns, x4 Archies, thruster, shield, cap armor, SNAC

Size wise I can scale it to whatever size, but my personal thoughts on this was somewhere between a Tridente / Armored Transport. The reasoning behind this was as follows:
  • Crew Size: 4 - 8
  • Optimal Load: 800 Cargo
  • Reasoning: 4 crew x 5 meals x 40 Days
  • Design: Modular interior, universal design. Freighter, gunship, troop transport, research vessel.
  • Overall design would make it possible to navigate asteroid fields, but unfriendly.

Current design for modeling is like...15M nose to Aft x 12.5 M wing tip to wing tip. That can be re-scaled proportionately to whatever. I suppose the overall idea behind this ship was like...mixing the original star wars port spatial in it's .84 - .85 glory, mixed with a bit of firefly, the purpose of the dromedary, and a tridente.
