"Captain!" A portly middle aged woman clumsily ascended the staircase to the deck of the Firefly-class transport. Flinging the door open, she exclaimed: "Captain! Ya gotta listen t' this transmission! S'all over the neuralnet chans!" The woman pressed a quick series of buttons to play the audio file.

The man sitting at the helm of the Vanity stroked his thick red mustache as he listened to the terrifying recording of the transmission. The Corsairs had taken a strange turn. Civilian hostages? What's to stop them from taking his own ship and crew? He'd been carrying supplies to the Edge world bases for a few years, since his departure from the core worlds. He always knew to avoid Gaians and Xenos and the like, but never did he think he would have to worry about terrorism from the Corsairs.

A long pause.

"Erin, I'm afraid it's no longer safe to take our crew through Corsair territory."

"Well jeeze, what r' we gonna do wit all these supplies?"

"Let's divert course and see if there are any Zoner bases that require these commodities."

He activated the ship comm systems. He cleared his throat and made his statement.

"This is your captain, August Redburn. Recent developments show that bringing supplies to Corsair territory is no longer safe. We have no choice but to change course. All hands on deck!"

Ah, yes, well, Edinburgh and, possibly, Dublin are not entirely in sync with the rest of Bretonia, let alone the Omicrons, from what I understand. I never quite understood that though. It could be related to the day/night cycle on Planet Gaia.

Do try and put a good, pro-Gaian spin on the whole thing when you return them. We need the PR - a better reputation would make things far easier for us, you see. Why resort to violence when there are other solutions that may work?
