Have you tried to make player request for this?

This idea and the Coalition request for Carriers to be allowed are two requests that desperately need to be implemented.

And neither has been requested to staff.

Riehl alleges to have requested something in october.

Aaaaand another example of why the current request system absolutely sucks.

prolly some more idk

The fact that IDs with permissive engagement lines and Sirius-wide ZOIs exist is not a good reason for adding more of them. If nothing else, we should be trying to either remove or restrict the ones that do exist by doing any of the following:

  1. Reducing the size of the ZOI. This would be appropriate for factions like the Coalition. Small, but having some established territory and a very close-by war front with another faction. Sending materiel off to faraway systems to pick fights, however ideological, with the locals is blatantly irresponsible.
  2. Tightening the conditions of engagement. This would be appropriate for intel/espionage factions, since meddling in a rival or allied nation's territory, regardless of your intentions or the alignment of your target, is grounds for war or international sanctions.
  3. Removing the ID entirely. This would be appropriate for the Nomads/K'Hara, which are already overpowered with their unlimited cloaking devices, high powered weapons, and lower standards of in-game roleplay (the "telepathy" that essentially constitutes powergaming in how it centers around telling players how their character is supposed to feel or be affected by something).

With that being said, however, the Bounty Hunters already have the engagement restriction. Criminals only, which is fine as long as the definition or list of what factions constitute criminal organizations is laid out in the ID, and not left to interpretation on the fly in-game. To be clear, I don't have an issue with this BHG-specific proposal; I just take issue with the "we already have this problem, we wouldn't be making it any worse" argument.

A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

The BHG ID could easily permit Sirius-wide PvP without being anywhere near as broken as some of those examples are. It essentially is Sirius-wide PvP already, just with the tedium of paperwork.

>restricting ZOIs and engagement opportunities is a good idea at 2020 server population

this ain't it, chief
i can count on one hand the amount of times =LSF= has used their ability to engage anywhere and every time was a fun and cool thing to do and everyone had a good time but I guess intelligence factions being able to have a single gimmick other than just being worse house navies is too much to ask

if intel factions' ID lines were really that powerful you'd think more than LSF and BDM would manage to be active more than once per stellar cycle (and no, I won't count SIS until they get above a day of activity in the last three months)

it's bad takes like this that allow things like the synth foods and cryer IDs to exist because "oh it's okay they're flavor factions they don't need to be good IDs" as if that sentence is being said while holding a torch to the nearest game design textbook you can get your hands on

try flying official intelligence faction ships into a neutral house and see how many seconds it takes before a house lawful logs and attempts to defenestrate you out the nearest jump gate. unless it's rheinland, I guess, since they all quit.

weird flex to go out of your way to call out an argument and be wrong about it
well, except for deleting k'hara, that's not a bad idea

This seems to have been posted 4 years ago and it's still relevant to this day, BHG ID needs a rework.

To be honest, the BH has always been my favorite even back in the vanilla server days. I'm terrible at pvp though the rp was always fun and the action always kept me on my toes. It's what I naturally go twords.
