Is delay arming even possible? I've never seen a mod that has such a mechanic involved.

If it is possible, missile 'lock delay' could be possible, making missiles less effective, making it a more skilled fight and not missile 'spamming'.

Read these new 4.85 threads, it says that cap to cap torps shall be delay activation, so it is possible.

Oh wow fair enough.

This can open the door to a few missile series similar to the Shriekers, long range, fast and good turn arc but with delay, they're not jousting missiles. They chase the target and blow up big time.

Anyway, thanks for confirm there Swift.

For me, missiles are over used. Gone are the massed combats of the TBH vs 101st/RoS. So many combatants in one place. 15 a side on occasions.
In those days, you used the missiles more sparingly. Now days, people turn up with a Stinger and three missile launchers mounted. I know, I've met at least one.
You would run out of munitions very quick in those massed battles. Is their accuracy so poor that they can't hit anything with guns?
Don't misunderstand me, I think missiles could be improved. In present air to air combat, the missile is the premier weapon of choice. The difference is that present day fighters carry a hell of a lot less than 70 of each type. In the example above, he had 210 missiles aboard.
How many sidewinders or AMRAMs does an F-14 or F-15 carry?
What about the latest F-22?
So yeah, improve them. Modify them, and make them occupy at least five times as much space as they do now (and cost five times as much).

Torps?
I think torpedos are weak compared to SN's. They should be stronger. The torpedo has bigger disadvantages than the SN. It doesn't use power and has a limited homing ability but can be destroyed, it's slower and has a finite supply (which again, quantity should be looked at). Add to that the weak payload and it's no wonder no-one uses them. (Except fighter jocks with a sunslayer). I would add that if they were to be beefed up, they should have a delayed fuse which would depend on the warhead size. The bigger the bomb, the longer the fuse.
A weakened SN should be for taking down more agile big ships like some traders, gunboats and athletic destroyer captains with weak shields.

My sixpence and it's probably all changed now in 4.85 anyway. Haven't been able to get on to find out. :(

Thing is people are gonna use missiles on what and when they want. And if you know how to use missiles (there are some sneaky tricks to em) then jousting with them is easy. Against caps and such well yea the ships and weaponry are designed to not die. Thats why torps become less effective. But missiles and torps are far from useless.
