[Done] Top bar download text proposal

Please can we consider a small but significant edit to the forum top bar.

I propose highlighting the "Download Mod" thread hyperlink in green text and including the words Freelancer. Image included for visualisation.



Why? It emphasises an obvious call to action we want viewers to take.

We already advertise how to download Microsoft Freelancer so I do not see how adding the words "Freelancer" could cause any problems further for us from a legal perspective.

This is looking very good but when you want doing this I think you need switching the link for the forums on https://discoverygc.com/ from /forums/index.php to /forums/portal.php.

Much better @Durandal than the current plain white text "Download Mod" so I approve. Unsure how hard it is to edit the forums as your image proposes. I kept my OP proposal simple and using features already executed (ie green text "Returning Player?")

Just having the word "Download" wont be as clear and effective as "Download Freelancer + Discovery mod"

Yes I do appreciate that Alex. It isn't an exact science after all!

I am just trying to put myself in the shoes of a new visitor. "Download what? Just the mod?" That's literally half true. You can also install Freelancer which is the biggest obstacle to new players due to no Steam/GoG pages.

So for a new visitor they would see "download" and then need to be inquisitive enough to click on it and read down into 7 lines of grey text which talks about boring 'Microsoft Net Frameworks' and updating your CPU.

For every 10 visitors I am confident a good 2 or 3 (20%-30%) will see the word "Download" and won't take the desired action we want them to take.

Lastly the more green text we have up there the larger the button is. The more eye catching it is.

Downsides to this plan is it will take more of your time to re-edit and "Download Freelancer + Discovery" will take more of the top bar.

But I do strongly think it's worth it. Better safe than sorry.
