First, this thread is not started to dictate any RP or even making claim on positions either side. This thread is started because for the first time a complete House is introduced to the mod and I am (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) interested seeing how we even should react or role play with the Gallic factions.
There have been factions introduced to the Disco mod before that are not part of the vanilla Freelancer for example Wild, Phantoms etc. BUT the main difference has been that those factions introduced have been pretty intuitive in regard how people should approach them. Namely they have been mostly unlawful ones and they have come to the part of the disco one by one not rocking the boat too much.
Whereas Gallia comes with a fully staffed part of Sirius and for the first time has lawful trading factions too. So this throws the usual intuitive approach out of the window straight away. All people really have now is the rep sheet to use. And because every jack and jill is heading there to get the feel of the place and just to explore (I doubt anyone at this point is going there for RP purposes yet) the relations thing is not realistic or even role played at all. Or people are already trying to exert influence too prematurely over the RP and how things should be played.
I have not a slightest clue what I should do when I first encounter a Gallic ship except start talking and finding out who the heck are they. What I'm really looking for is a solid ground from which to work on exploring and working out Gallia and my feelings towards it.
Ideally, and taking the things from real world, establishing relations to a previously unknown entity should be scouting out if they are a threat or not, then establishing diplomatic and trading relations and from there on expanding the relations. But I have a feeling that already in the 5 days we are past that. It's pretty hard to RP the opening stages afterwards. And as there are at the moment official factions representing Bretonia, OC and other in direct vicinity of Gallia and no official factions in Gallia side I think we should have Igiss and the Admin team represent the official Gallia in forum RP now. IMO this would kick the RP relations moving and give a foundation where to build on. I think opening official talks and starting to RP now in the forum would solve a lot of problem now and especially in the future as well setting a bit of an example how things should work.
At the moment Gallic RP, meaning both how they perceive the rest of the Sirius and how the rest of the Sirius perceives them, is very much open. This post really does not try to answer anything. It's purpose is to raise questions where you all can start thinking answers.
