I've been searching the forums and wiki (still dipping my toes in the Discovery Universe), but have been unable to locate an answer to this question:

Is it possible to hide the system messages for players joining or departing the server? It gets quite frustrating to chat, when 30 "New player" or "Departing player" messages clog the screen. Doubly so when in combat, or I have to look away from the screen for more than 10 seconds.

As far as I know, no, they can't be disabled, might be possible in future versions, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Oh, and, welcome to Disco:)

As I understand it is a function that has been built into the server program that was never intended to be disablable.

Its generaly aggred that its a good idea, but currently can't be done.

If it could be done, then it should be by choice. Logging on/off messages help to see some friends that are logging on and some victims who are doing the ever famous "F1" to escape piracy.

I would love to see a command to get rid of the "red" notifications, since most are not valid to your playtime, but, in some instances they help to see that possibly your faction is being killed or killing by the masses, or to see if a guild is logging on in masses for you to possibly join them.

Choice in the matter would be appreciated, but as it seems, there is no possible way to get rid of it yet.

I get the F1 thing, although TBH I don't care as much about that as I do the "Oh hai, I'm attacking" followed by a one shot kill.

A friends list would be epic, although not much of an issue with my crew (all RL friends who just got started, log onto Vent whenever we're on)

Drat. Oh well, guess I'll learn to deal.

Thanks for the welcome...hope to start getting into some serious RP once I have a few million credits.

I know there are lots of commands so I can't quite recall this. Is there an option to make the log on/off messages switch to a smaller font?
