Cant activate Disco 4.85 beta 4 update 1!

Hi

I am having some trouble, if you havent noticed. I am trying to activate the new beta mod that the dev team (5 woots!) put out today. What the FLMM console says at the bottom is that it is "Unable to activate because: Cannot locate [Package] /Program Files/Microsoft Games/Freelancer/Data/newcharacter.ini"

It may also say Error: Unable to find dest 'money = 8500' in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\data\characters\newcharacter.ini'

The DSUpdater doesn't work for me because it keeps coming up with errors, it may have something to do with me having Vista

I am about ready to explode!

As I post this topic, I have uninstalled FL and I am installing it as I type this topic.

Whoever can help with this, it will be greatly appreciated.

If a file is out of sync, you best bet is to start fresh.

Reinstalling should fix your problem.

I reinstalled Freelancer, Discover 4.85 beta 4 update 1, and I rebooted my computer, I have no clue what to do

I have the same problem here.

I had the same problem until i figure it out....

*Deactivate all Freelancer Programs
*reinstall Freelancer Game
*Download the Update 1 (you probably got it)
*Open the Zip folder
*Look for EXE
*Extract it to a folder or Download file
*Open the Folder of what you extracted
*Copy & Paste all the files
* Right Click Freelancer (Game)
* Open File
* Paste it and Overwrite of what you pasting
*Open DSUpdate.exe
*It will ask you if "you want to download the igiss file?", (something like that) click yes
*Wait till it finish
*when done, it will open the game automatically or open it from DSUpdate.exe or Disco FL Shortcut
*Enjoy the game

I cant run DSUpdate, it says it cant locate libcurl.dll

I even downloaded the dll and pasted it in all of the EXE folder and it doesn't work.

You seem to have a number of different problems.

This error indicates that your Freelancer installation is messed up. I see you have re-installed Freelancer so it should be okay now, but you might need to do this again.

1. Have you installed the "4.85 Beta 4" mod (using FLMM)?

I believe you possibly have not installed it.

You need to install "4.85 Beta 4" before you can use the updater. This could explain why you could not find the "DsUpdate.exe" program. Download and installation instructions for "4.85 Beta 4" are available from here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=

Once you have installed "4.85 Beta 4" then you should find a shortcut in the Freelancer game directory named "Discovery Freelancer". Copy this to your desktop and run it. It should start the updater and upgrade you to "4.85 Beta 4 Update 1".

Please me ask questions if this does not work or you need more help.

Ok, so I download the original 4th beta, and I finally got to update to the new update. But when I went to go play, I didn't see the server and that was about 5-15 minutes ago. Was the server down then? I would hope so...
