now for real! to hit a moving target with an foward gun you you have to be still or going directly to the target, otherwise no matter what god or gods you pray, you will need his or their help to hit the target. also you need to be close and you've made yourself an easy target for the very ship you want to target or for her escort. the snac is ok as it is.

Replace with a buffed corona. Lower the firing rate and buff the dps. Make it a high damage, single beam 'burst' that can be fired every few seconds. You'd need to aim it by the nose as it is now, and depending on the range it would be a similar challenge... but be an alternative to the blob throwers.
