I found something interesting with the Omega-55 system today while on a partol, a malfunctioning station within the Kattegat Field Sector A7. The station showed no hostility or any signs of life for that matter so I decided to get in close and do some basic level scans. Scans showed nothing, no signs of life at all and very little power, it seems most of the stations systems are offline. I will upload a picture from my net and the station within the attachments.
I am Multannus Cerratus of the Deterrence Fleet. I saw your query while going through this ever growing pile of documents on my desk.
This... is a worry. A malfunctioning base, unmanned and with no known information or affiliation, is sitting on our doorstep?
To this end, I sent one of my own scouts to check the base you discovered.
Our findings, were much the same as yours. The base is running on automatic, is barely functional, has no lifeforms and would normally be considered worthless... Except... Our scout believes he may have detected signs of recent repair on the exterior of this base.
Our scout is not one for exaggeration, usually, as such we are planning a more in-depth investigation. We hope to discover who, or what, is lurking around out there. Rest assured, if we discover this base, or the ones potentially repairing it, to be a problem? We will act on it immediately.
That said, anything else you may discover regarding this base, or other such... curiosities... would be greatly appreciated.
Some time ago, King Enrique invited a group of Junkers who own a modular base in Omega 55 to bend the knee. The group refused, defying the Great King and were cruelly but justly punished for it. The surviving members of the group may not have understood the lesson and decided to brazenly continue operating in that system.
There are many options, the one I suggested is only one of them, however, if the station does not provide strategic value there is no point in capturing it - tear it to hell, and use the remains to melt it down for the necessary parts for repairs.
