? MARINE SURVEYORS STRIKE MASSIVE OIL DEPOT BY ACCIDENT ?
CASTENBURY, PLANET CAMBRIDGE
A few days ago first rumors spread about the marine surveyor vessel H.M.S. Dolph Lundgren having struck oil - in the most literal sense. The Brightholm-class ocean exploration vessel owned by the Green Front is usually deployed for deep sea exploration missions, however, this time reacted to a distress call from a Corsair pilot. His ship was shot down by the Armed Forces and crashed into the ocean. This is not a rare occurance, however, in most cases, Corsair pilots prefer to accept their fate, even if they somehow survive the planetfall.

In this case, it was different, as Green Front press officer Winston Barclay confirmed. While the engine of the crashed Titan-class Fighter was completely wrecked, the pilot used a modified shield system to allow the small vessel to glide over the ocean until it submerged. From that point on, the shield bubble kept the wreck above water long enough for the Dolph Lundgren to arrive. The invading pilot was rescued, however, the moment they left their ship, the shield bubble needed to be perforated in order to pick them up. "A bloody spectacular and well-coordinated undertaking," according to Barclay, who went on to describe how the Titan began to sink.

In an attempt to prevent the Titan from dropping down to the ocean floor, possibly polluting the area with radioactive materials of the leaking engine remains and the minedropper magazine, the Dolph Lundgren embarked on a submarine chase, trying to sink faster than the debris. This risky operation almost ended in a disaster if not for the clever and experienced crew of the Green Front vessel, not daring such bold maneuver for the time. "Brightholm-class vessels are specifically designed to make use of anti-grav technology to defy the laws of physics. Their shield bubbles not only resist incredible amounts of pressure, but they also allow the vessel to get propelled around under water like a Croquet ball. Nevertheless, incredibly dangerous," so Barclay.

The Dolph Lundgren used this reckless maneuver to move between the ship wreck and a bioluminiscent deep sea coral reef, yet sadly, the wreck broke apart from the strong water pressure, resulting in a strong shockwave. While the Dolph Lundgren's shields easily withstood the massive explosion, the previously beautiful location took a devastating blow, cracking parts of the oceanic landscape open.

According to Green Front press officer Barclay, the H.M.S. Dolph Lundgren's shield prevented a lot more possible damage and her piloting affected the sinking path of the wreck, apparently preserving the entire Lachsington-Salmonsen coral reef region from long-term pollution damage. Nevertheless, the area's flora and fauna will require time to rejuvenate from this incident.

Interestingly, as the Dolph Lundgren remained in the region to observe and document the impact of the explosion on the local area, her W.H.I.S.K.E.R. probes recorded large pillar-like puddles of jet-black oil leaking out of the newly-formed cracks. To the Green Front, this is an absolute catastrophe, as oil pollution quickly spreads if not taken care of as soon as possible.

To oil rig investors, this is excellent news as prospectors expect this rather untouched region to contain vast amounts of extractable oil. The Green Front is currently looking for potential partners to solve this environmental catastrophe in a most pleasing manner, as, now that the oil depot has been struck, it would be a waste to not exploit it within controlled parameters.

Our experts assume it will only take a few days for an already existing oil rig to be towed to the location in question. While the cause for this is a tragedy, this additional oil deposit will likely boost Bretonia's efforts to rebuild the infrastructure of New London and recover a bit more quickly from the aftermath of the war.
