GMG ship, pirate ID ? Nah ... Bastille. Post here please.
I found the ship floating around, bought it because I figured a pirate should have a somewhat "Less heavily armed" ship, something not quite up to par with general VHFs. My character wasn't a pirate at the time of percussing the fighter, (Because pirates cannot dock on lawful bases.) and the whole point was to Role Play a lad that happened to be laid off due to cuts in the GMG budget. Somewhat of a spin on the current state of the US economy and it gave a general reason to make a pirate with some family values, he only traffics and tolls to feed his kids. (Not vary often) If I need to apply for special RP and wright a full story I really don't have a problem doing so. Hes a bit of a JACK SPARROW type of character, doesn't take a lot horribly seriously but if ya get to know him hes a generally nice guy, apposed to the fact that hes been forced out of work with mouths to feed. (Check my faction and RP post for RO if you don't believe I'm capable of sustaining and keeping to RP>)
The reasons I did this were pretty simple, in summery.
- I wanted a ship that wouldn't really be designed to pirate, and something that people wouldn't really see as a threat in order to avoid complaints witch generally come from every angle when your trying to RP a character that interacts with anything other than NPC's and is generally seen collecting or shooting in the general direction of other players. People don't like being shot at, and (Proved by the fact that I'm needing to post here in the first place) like to get rid of the threat.
I suppose In all honesty if I have to find a better ship more suited to the tag I can do so, but the whole point of a GMG ship in the first place, was to A. Connect the pirate to a valid RP story and background consisting of a reason why he was forced to pirate in the first place. and B. to use a ship that wouldn't be overpowered in order to avoid needlessly destroying players witch in turn, will inevitably create even more problems. The fact that the ship can't really shoot down a transport easily, gives them more time to escape, and lets me have some more fun attempting unsuccessfully to shoot them down. Adding to the humor the character possesses. (He likes making a good effort bordering insanity, but generally has to eject in a fiery ball of death mayhem and doom to be towed back to the station and fix his ship up to try again.)
It makes perfect since to me. I've played here since 2006, and haven't been sanctioned on a single occasion. I wouldn't have picked a ship, if I didn't feel there would be a perfectly valid connection to RP behind choosing it.
I haven't disobeyed any RoE with the character, when hes destroyed he doesn't stay in or return to the system in question for the required 4 hour time period. He doesn't attack people more than once, and he hasn't actually managed to pirate anything yet. I'm surprised this even got posted here, due to the entirety behind the RP and ship choice was to make him more or less harmless to begin with.
