Miss Mori,

While much of the information that you passed along was already at least partially known to us, confirmation of these facts is always appreciated. The GNI is primarily interested in understanding the process of infestation used by the Nomads, as Gallia has only had a few known incidents of this happening, and this was in the time of the GRI so our files are lacking in many critical areas.

Ways of detecting such infected individuals, as well as any recommendations as to what to do when encountering these thralls would be invaluable to us. As we have already encountered individuals from both of the mindshares, as you put them, we are being forced to adapt on the fly to the potential threat posed by them and being forced to adapt in this way can obviously lead to flaws in our procedures. I look forward to hearing back from you at your convenience.

Regards,
Duke

There's no known way to detect Infiltrators. A few groups claim to be able to, but it's just pseudoscience hawked by some pretty desperate people. And I mean, who wouldn't be desperate? Everyone wants to believe they're safe, after all, but everything that's ever been tried is about as effective as using a forked stick to dowse for water.

There's a lot of different approaches to thralls. Some organizations slaughter them, others imprison them, others just deny them access to anything important. The problem is they're completely normal people most of the time, so you really should treat them as humanely as any other civilian, but if they're exposed to Nomads they can turn into major threats. Personally, I recommend using a soft touch, but lots of folks are too scared to do that and go all turtle-y, and hurt a lot of people in the process. One of the big problems with both thralls and infiltrators is that once you know about them, they make people act panicky and hysterical, and then they get Inquisition-y. You've gotta avoid that instinct; dividing us amongst ourselves is the goal of Infiltrators, so don't do their work for them.

Ideally, thralls'd be put somewhere they can't hurt anyone and allowed to live out their lives, hopefully with the illusion that nothing's wrong and they're just a normal person. Actually doing that is hard, though.

Infestation is slow, and it requires the victim to be restrained and in close physical proximity to the Infiltrator. It's an, um, oral pathway, and it's pretty obvious when it's happening, so usually it happens in private or with a group of other Infiltrators and Thralls. It's, um... apparently so awful that just watching it happen can give people flashbacks and other PTSD-sounding stuff. So that's... fun.

On a happier note, we're about to start a new research project on both jump hole instability and some Nomad-related phenomena, in partnership with the Bundschuh, Technocracy of Auxo, and maybe Zoners if we can get them and Auxo to stop squabbling. We'd like to invite you to take part, if you want to. It'd require a pretty significant resource investment based in Liberty, but the payoffs could be huge.

Stay safe,
Yoko Mori (she/they)

Miss Mori,

This alligns with much of what we had alrready learned about them, but we still appreciate the confirmation regardless. We're already moving to primarily observe and collect information on these biologicals and their thralls, and intend to only elimate those that are actingg in a threatening manner. The Directorate appreciates your efforts in regards to the passing along of this information, and we intend to keep you appraised of any developments in our research, and hope you would do the same in return.

If you have any questions for us in return, feel free to reach out, and we will respond as soon as able. We are working on acquiring formal recognition of your allowance to traverse Gallic space at this time, but until then we believe it is safe for your group to fly within Gallia as long as you do not give any reason to provoke a response inclined to remove you.

Regards,
Duke
