Foreign Secretary Announces New Tau Initiative
LIPARI - In a snap press gathering today aboard the capital, Foreign Secretary Alexander Bayner announced a new initiative aimed at curtailing the steady rise in tensions among factions within the Tau Sector. Secretary Bayner, alongside State Secretary Cleese and the Vice President, authored a declaration, following the recent fighting between House forces from Gallia, Kusari, and Bretonia, and the inhabitants of the Tau systems, expressing a desire to bring about a lasting peace. In his address, the Foreign Secretary stated:

"This fighting has been ongoing for decades, at least, but only after the explosion of war between Bretonia and Kusari over petty things like claims to the Tau systems did the degree of this fighting rise to levels unseen since the 80 Years War, and it would only spiral from there. From Kusari's unjustifiable invasion of neutral nations akin to a modern day Schlieffen Plan, to the indefensible lockdown of trade within the entire region under threat of gunfire, to the more tame but nonetheless inexcusable clashes over mining rights, the Taus are littered with unexploded ordinance, wrecked stations and warships, defunct trade lanes and jump gates, and countless other markers of man's malice over the past two decades. I dare say, it's been one hell of a mess.

No longer. It shall be the Foreign Office's position from this instant moving forward for Lipari to champion the effort to establish a framework for the Taus to find harmony. One that recognizes all claims to the resources within these systems, defines with finality the seniority of said claims, and works to create a meaningful and lasting peace for the Taus' inhabitants, while maintaining a bulwark against the threats from Malta."

This announcement comes following the Republic's adoption of a new constitution, and the Iltzmann Administration's voiced desire to create a coalition against increased Outcast expansion and activity within the Tau systems, an issue that has of late been a growing concern for many on Lipari. Some groundside have been apprehensive at the matter, claiming the Foreign Office's aims are far too high, while others have said a full legal body with jurisdiction over the Taus would be a more solid investment of the Republic's time and resources. Even matters such as coordination between the Gallic Union and those of Kusari, Bretonia, and Crayter are hurdles some say Lipari just cannot leap over yet.

Nonetheless, Lipari Solar will keep you up to date as this story develops.
