Alsace Passage passenger transits reach record high
VERSAILLES - After several months of renovations, Imperial Shipping has reopened Versailles Station in Ile-de-France for business. Imperial Shipping acquired the facility in December of last year, with backing and financial support from Rheinland's government. The previous owners, Bouvet Space Entertainment (a subsidiary of Ile-de-France Shipping), had sold the loss-making station to raise revenue for a major fleet refurbishment. Intending to operate the station as a business hub and "Sirian diplomatic enclave", Imperial Shipping has begun offering temporarily discounted tickets for seats aboard chartered passenger liners.

Not to be outdone, these offers have been matched by Orbital Spa & Cruise, who have recently been contracted by Ile-de-France Shipping to operate Cannes Resort in Provence. It is widely believed that the tour company has been courting Gallic business for some time, hoping to revitalise its flagging resorts on Planet Baden Baden. According to knowledgeable sources, Orbital sees the jointly promoted tourism campaign as an ideal vehicle for establishing their brand across the Gallic market, while normalising the idea of recreationally travelling abroad to a Gallic population that has for centuries seen this as a fierce taboo.

The Unione Corse has also moved to aggressively undercut Orbital's prices by slashing the cost of luxury retreats on Planet Marseille. The Corse have largely controlled the Provence system since the end of the Second Gallic Civil War, and accordingly manage most of the region's resorts and foreign investment. Anonymous insiders claim the Corsicans feel aggrieved by Bouvet Space Entertainment subleasing Cannes' management contract to Orbital Spa & Cruise without consulting them first. While it remains to be seen how Orbital will adapt to the Gallic market, the Corse are set on ruthlessly squeezing their profit margins for the time being.

Regardless of corporate competition, there has never been a better time for Rheinlanders or Gauls to book a foreign vacation. As business leaders and trend setters flock to Versailles Station, Gallic Cultural Officers have been made available to shepherd guests around approved cultural, historic and commercial sites on New Paris. Rheinland has likewise prepared various tours packages covering New Berlin's chilly cabarets, clubs and sites of historic renown for adventurous Gallic visitors. Plunging ticket prices and state-endorsed revelry mean the Alsace Passage is seeing record-breaking numbers of passenger transits. Government officials hope the activity will persist once the subsidies end.
