The False Pretenses has a long and storied history before it's salvation at the hands of it's current captain. Before she was found in a decaying orbit around the New York star, she had the distinguished privilege of carrying passengers from New York to Liberty's other star systems throughout the sector. At the advent of gate travel, her use fell to the wayside as a simple hauler. After that, she was simply discarded, left to rot away in the depths of vacuum where she had once swam with purpose...that is, until Erebos found her.

Erebos was a Junker, and quite a good one at that. He saved the rotting Liner from a doomed life as a decrepit satellite and gave her a new purpose. He towed the ancient Liner back to a new Invergordon Shipyards (at the time) and got to work. After four years of exhaustive work and plenty of sleepless nights, Erebos had restored the dated "Hull 002" to operational status. Renaming the ship to False Pretenses as a tongue in cheek way of flaunting the true purpose of the liner to the authorities, Erebos got to work on his craft: Smuggling.

As the years dragged on, he gained a small following of other Junkers with a taste for smuggling and earning credits. Throughout those years, he improved the False Pretenses from the dated and aging liner to a marvel of Junker innovation and tech. As the ship stands now in 835 A.S., it is the envy of Junkers everywhere. With narrow band advanced sensors, an overclocked engine chassis, various docking bays, and even the ridiculous rumor of a drive capable of tearing a hole in the very fabric of space; the Liner is capable of existing outside of a drydock for years if not decades.

This is an account of her trips through space and the people she meets. The trials and tribulations she goes through. The adventures she has with her wayward crew and charismatic captain. The False Pretenses is as much of a part of the crew as any of the others and she pays for her way in spades...and if you ever encounter her in the deep dark depths of space, you will agree with that sentiment too.

Another trip out to the Rim and back without much consequence. The wolves were in the hen house and it's protectors were no where to be found. Erebos sighed, kicking his feet up on the console of the False Pretenses and opened a can of his favorite beverage. It used to be a lot different--there used to be risk involved. He took a long drag of his beer, noting that he had already nearly finished it in the opening pull. Sighing, he drained the rest and threw the can to the floor.

A woman walked by with a clipboard. She sighed, shoved his feet off the console and picked up the can, dispensing it into a nearby receptacle.

"You know, you could at least pretend to be the Captain." she said defeated.

"Sure thing, my dudette. Just as soon as things get interesting around here, ya dig?" he said leaning his head against a curled up fist. "Remember when it was difficult to bring this shit into house space? When they gave a crap? Now it's just like we bring it in through the front door. For real."

"You should be thankful, Erebos. The False Pretenses might be a high bar for most Pilgrim's of it's age, but we wouldn't stand up to a Navy carrier group of any House."

Erebos sighed again, putting his feet back up on the console. The woman looked to his dirty boots on the console and sighed, shaking her head. She walked away checking her clipboard, clearly defeated by the antics of her wayward captain.

"Hoy, Tori." he called after her. "When're we gettin' these Cigars to Cochrane Depot? I got a meetin' planned with one of them Hackers to start the process for the stealth system."

The woman named Tori turned to face Erebos, an exasperated look crossing her face.

"You mean the cloak?" she replied. Erebos rolled his eyes in response. "Soon. We've just transitioned into Liberty space. Look at your console or...you know...out the window." she turned and exited the bridge, the doors closing the only evidence that she had been there to begin with. Erebos turned away from the door and back out of the front facing windows overlooking Planet Los Angeles.

"This job used to be a fucking challenge, now it's just any other job in the cosmos." he sighed a final time, leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes with his hands clasped on his chest. "Something better happen soon, else I might just shoot myself out of boredom."

It wasn't long before he was snoring, dreaming of the good ol' days.
