I bid a good day to the upper echelons of the Fleet's Admiralty. I record this transmission towards you today in order to bring up a matter that is of utmost importance not only to the LNS-Akhetaten and the Forty-sixth Fleet, but also the whole of Liberty.
It is no secret that the Republic's well-being has been continuously threatened during the last few years. With our forces making a full retreat from the Ontario system, and with the Technocracy of Auxo and their new close buddies - Task Force Prometheus - making bold advances towards our core systems, it is obvious that we need to act now, before it is too late and the situation has escaped our control.
What is also obvious, unfortunately, is that the Government does not seem to care about the looming threats just over the horizon - sometimes even within our own doorstep.
Giving up control of Ontario to the Xenos and the Order not only nullifies our influence over Planet Sudbury's anomalies, but it also further reinforces local Xeno forces and speeds up their own research - if existing - of such anomalies. I don't think I need to stress to you how devastating it would be for the Republic should the Xenos uncover an ancient relic of any magnitude from that planet, before us.
It has become clear to me that the Government will not take action, and I will not sit in silence and await for the Republic to fall in such fashion.
Over the past half a year, I've been hard at thought. With the help of the Akhetaten's second in command, Commodore Edwards, I came to a conclusion that might help the situation we are currently dealing with, and have been dealing with or the last few years.
I hereby request from you - Fleet Admiral Kemp-Smith and Admiral Aden Tanner - permission to extend the Akhetaten's effectiveness through establishment of unique rules of engagement.
The LNS-Akhetaten has previously been deployed to all corners of Sirius in order to keep close tabs on Liberty's enemies - and even allies. Over the years, the warship has seen upgrades and refits that no other ship in Liberty's arsenal has undergone. Now, more than ever, the Republic needs a ship such as that to keep track of, analyze and research possible threats to the Republic - inside or outside its Sovereign Space.
It is my understanding that in order to succeed in such a mission, the Akhetaten will need full operational independence. For that, the Akhetaten must be given permission to take lethal action against anyone who will stand in our way while we protect the Republic's interests.
Of course, I do not deem it the wisest to leave Task Force Akhetaten out of this.
I understand that a task force centered around a ship should not be granted the rights to operate independently. I do, however, also understand that such a task force is expected to always act in accordance with the flagship's modus operandi.
With the above in mind, my request also includes that any vessel belonging to Task Force Akhetaten be granted the right to assist the LNS-Akhetaten, should such a need ever arise.
I hope you can see logic within my words.
I will be at your disposal for any further explanations or alternations in my requests.

I understand and appreciate your concerns and are duly noted. However, I will not gripe down the chain of command, this wouldn't be conduct befitting an officer, as you know.
Both the XO and myself are fully aware of the history of the Akhetaten prior to the ship and her crew, yourself included, joining the Forty-sixth. However, what you are requesting might be beyond my authority to immediately approve and above my station, even as the Commanding Officer of the Fleet. This would need to be submitted to the Secretary of Defense for a full review and wouldn't be surprised if a formal hearing would be called for questioning.
I would welcome the XO's opinion on this matter, before any further decision is to be made.

You already know how I feel about the decision to abandon Ontario, given the presence of alien anomalies on Sudbury. Also, now that the relationship between the Technocracy of Auxo and the Task Force Prometheus traitors is confirmed, something must be done. The incursions into Liberty by remnants of the Insurgency or Hell-Fire Legion, or whatever the hell they are, must be met with the fiercest response. I can think of no better ship, nor battle group, than the Akhetaten and its Task Force.
I know if you decide to go forward with the Vice Admiral's recommendation, you will have quite the time convincing the SECDEF. If I'm honest, I don't envy being you in that meeting, Sir. But with that being said, I know you will make the right choice regardless of any pain the bureaucrats put you through. I've got your back, Sir, if you need me in on those meetings. Assuming you approve Uhmens' request, that is.

It would appear that the XO and I are in agreement.
You have my approval for unique rules of engagement. However, as previously advised, this will need the SECDEF's approval, also. You're cleared to make contact and, should the need arise, both the XO and myself will be available in the event he wants to meet in person to discuss this. The Fleet is otherwise deployed on patrols and defending the core systems from the likes of Rogues, Xenos and the remants of the Hellfire, Task Force Prometheus. Should the Secretary approve your request, we'll need to discuss the ratio of the Task Force that becomes forward deployed.

I'd first of all like to extend my gratitude towards you, not only for trusting in my decision-making, but also in trusting the capabilities of not only myself, the crew, and the Akhetaten, but also the entirety of Task Force Akhetaten. I understand that the concerns I am bringing up must have made the matter of multiple discussions with the Government, discussions that have likely been forgotten without any action being taken.
Your words are duly noted, and I shall - to the best of my bureaucratic capabilities - negotiate with the Government in an attempt to convince them that action needs to be taken. I am obviously aware that Liberty faces threats not only outside our borders, but also within them. My initial plan was not to mobilize all of Task Force Akhetaten, should the extended zone of operations be accepted by the Government, but rather separate the task force in contingents; the heavier ships that make up the majority of the task force's firepower will remain within their regular area of operations while the Akhetaten alongside smaller assets is to be the designated battle group that shall commit to operations outside sovereign Liberty space - when the need arises.
My thoughts, at the current time, are to employ the New Jersey - under the command of the highly capable Captain Luisa Chiavallati - as the Task Force's designated flagship within Liberty space while the Akhetaten is missing in operations outside its borders.
Within the following hour I will be recording a transmission to be sent to the Government, specifically to the Secretary of Defense. A carbon-copy of the transmission will be forwarded to each of you, Admirals.

As you may have seen, the Department of Defense has approved my request, and now the ball is back to our field to decide what parts of the Task Force will be committed to what duties.
As far as the Secretary's mention regarding the Liberty Security Force and the Akhetaten's operations being coordinated with them, I have already handled any and all communications channels that need to be set up between the Security Force and myself. All operational details will be shared with the Security Force, and the Akhetaten as well as the task force's assets that will be assigned to the Akhetaten will be operating under the LSF's doctrine and etiquette.
I've been hard at thought regarding the split of assets within Task Force Akhetaten, and have came up with something I consider to be ample;
Task Force Akhetaten is to be split into Task Group Akhetaten One and Task Group Akhetaten Two, referred to from now on as TGA One and TGA Two.
TGA One, spearheaded by LNS Akhetaten under the command of Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen, is to commit to intelligence gathering and surgical strikes against enemies of the Republic, foreign or domestic. TGA One operates within and outside Liberty's borders and coordinates directly with assets of Liberty Security Force that share TGA One's AO.
TGA Two, spearheaded by LNS New Jersey under the command of Captain Luisa Chiavallati, is to remain ever-present within the borders of Liberty as well as the surrounding independent systems, as per standard Forty-Sixth Fleet operational zone procedures. The commanding officer of TGA Two maintains full control over the contingent she is in charge of, and is to report directly to Forty-Sixth Fleet's Admiralty if and when Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen is not present or otherwise unavailable. Such control is only to be taken away by the Forty-Sixth Fleet's Admiralty during emergencies and only if absolutely necessary.
I've taken the time to consider the exact ships that will be part of each group, and I have came up with the below split.
TGA One consists of Task Force Akhetaten's flagship and all of the officially listed Task Force Akhetaten warships sized cruiser and below, as well as the flagship's assigned garrison and the Umbral squadron.
TGA Two consists of the heaviest assets[1] currently employed by Task Force Akhetaten, supported by the task force's battlecruiser line-up, including their assigned garrisons as well as all other operatives the task force employs. [1]: LNS New Jersey, Arbiter-class; LNX Essex, Atlantis-class; LNS Scarville, Overlord-class
The different roles of each group are complemented by their lineups; one group focusing on superior firepower while the other focusing on high mobility, interception, counter-intelligence and methodical strikes.

I am glad the SECDEF saw fit to approve your request. Some good news for the Task Force and a great responsibility to be burdened by both you and the junior officers.
The split of TFA assets seems reasonable and I approve. Not that I'd ever see fit to interfere, nor micro-manage you or the personnel assigned to your command. Unless the XO has any objections, then I see now reason why this cannot proceed, as planned.

I am glad to know that I have your trust and your full support in this endeavor. Rest assured that I've left some good officers and highly capable warships and crews in Task Group Akhetaten Two, and that Liberty's security will not be compromised by this separation.
Captain Chiavallati has shown incredible effort and has gone far and beyond her duties to ensure the effectiveness of any operation she is part of. The New Jersey is a proud asset of Task Force Akhetaten, and a warship I think deserves the role is it being given. The same, of course, goes for the ship's commanding officer. Her promotion to Commodore is something I had in mind myself, as taking command of TGA Two is a huge responsibility that will qualify her for this position. There is no doubt in my mind that Chiavallati can handle it.
