To whom it may concern,

Greetings, it's Furukawa.

The last person of contact was identified only as asset "Goryō", so I am not sure who I'll be writing to here now, but a message is definitely necessary.

I have not involved myself personally in the joint training at Fort Ainoura, but as far as I'm aware, everything has been running smoothly, after the duration of what we in academia would call a semester. We have been seeing another class of naval forces cadets, including those of the 66th expeditionary division which is to be our liaison graduate our own classes.

I'm sure you can imagine why I'm writing to you. The escalation in the south doesn't seem like it follow the course of sanctions and legal actions at this time, but rather become something more. At the same time, the joint task force with the 66th is effectively ready on standby. On the academic side, we're in the traditional summer break, and the actual flagship, the Ikazuchi-type of our manufacture, now has an experienced crew, and a name - Infinity.

There is nearly no chance the company can avoid entirely to become involved in any southern, events, shall we call them, and the 66th assigned to us are clearly preparing for major action.

So to summarize into a few short questions.
What sort of involvement can we, as a company overall, expect to be facing?
Will the joint task force receive activation in this situation?
And will the overall Naval command permit the deployment of the Infinity?

The decisions we make in the coming days and weeks will shape our future to a large degree, so, we will need to decide carefully but swiftly.

Furukawa-san.

We are facing a most unfortunate development. I understand your concern, especially in sight of both modular installations belonging to Ionic Incorporated being so close to our border. I will skip the formalities, the calming words and all that to get straight to answering your questions:
  • Ionic Incorporated should expect armed resistance to any Platinum mining operations from here on. These are likely to include Liberty Security Forces vessels and potentially even Liberty Navy assets. Inform either the Nagasaki command or Junyo's local garrison beforehand and bring sufficient security details of your own.

  • If the circumstances allow it, we would refrain from seeing a deployment at this time. At least not within Galileo proper. We should activate the task force alongside Project Infinity within Shikoku pre-emptively. We must expect considerable strain on standard patrols, a matter the task force may just be perfect to address. For the time being, Naval command is split into two divisions around these matters. I would prefer to see the task force under my command, if you agree.

In service of Kusari,
Goryō

Asset Goryō,

Understood. As you ascertained, we're a little bit more on edge about the conflict than more centrally located companies might be due to being on the literal edge of it. And I have to admit, I'm struggling to hold all the individual threads that are coming together here. I'm not exactly a trained strategist.

But my team and I can make some reasonable estimations.
It is our assumption that securing the platinum deposits in Galileo cannot really be the end goal of the Liberty aggression. As valuable as the resource is, the market is stable, and trade of the metal has been flowing north and south largely unhindered. Of course there is banditry by outlaws, and your typical friendly corporate mining conflicts, but nothing too extraordinary.

We really cannot believe this is simply about securing a DSE monopoly on platinum. It's something of a worst case assumption, but we believe it's not unrealistic to assume the Republic's goal are our facilities, and by extension, our hyperspace technology. Platinum is useful and valuable, but Ageira can't buy back its technological edge with it. That, Liberty's technological advantage that has now been challenged, is what we believe this is primarily about.

We consider it likely that whatever conflicts may erupt in Galileo, Liberty will use them to justify incursions into Shikoku, and that they will justify claims up to the Deshima junction on account of its and Tsukishima's "international status".

So, to actions. I will give the go-ahead to launch Infinity, with the understanding that she will not enter Galileo until further notice, and any other joint task force assets under my direct command. The vessel has passed every test and certainly for in-system observation, there should be no concerns.
The 66th elements of the task force should be ready for order anyway, and as for ours, especially Infinity: We will take your command readily, with the caveat that should Ionic's facilities come under direct threat, this would be made the immediate defensive priority.
