I have some curious afterthoughts, and I find myself a little puzzled on a... curious investigation of mine, one of which I was baited into by Harby. Are you familiar with Nomadic architecture and building materials? Or more so, have you found yourself time to examine the predecessors derelict structures found in the hyperspatial fold known as 'Earhart'?

Dear Bird;

You really know what name to mention to get my attention, don't you. What has Harby done this time?

Yes, I am very familiar with nomadic structures, maybe more so than any other human, for what I assume are obvious reasons. I'm not a structural engineer or as would perhaps be more appropriate in this case, a geologist, but I have endless data feeds on their form and composition and what I would like to describe as a decent understanding of it, too.
As for the Earhart pylons, not so much I'm afraid. I have visited the place, but I was on my fighter, not the RV, and that doesn't have anywhere near the equipment needed to get proper data. For a veteran explorer, my knowledge of this hyperspace sink or whatever you may call it is embarrassingly limited. Unfortunately I do not seem to have made any friends that can conveniently make jump drive equipment available for my benefit.

But why do you ask? You'll have to tell me a bit more.

Hm, well, I did not expect you to be rather intimate with the structures.

You see, I'm suspecting there is a way to minimise and... perhaps... control the affects of the blackout. A part of these conditions is these alien gates. Most of them, are damaged, and their failing links have been a rather questionable... detriment to the 'natural' environment. The Earhart relay is inevitably failing. And with that, the hyperspatial threads that intertwine with the device that holds it all together will unravel and run wild. Supercharged dark matter aggravated from these hyperspatial tunnels collapsing and reforming will become more and more common.


I plan to investigate this. And as such, I have had it within my intentions to seek out ways to close, or open, some of these fissures and wounds to heal or seal them for good.

But you see, even your position is still beneficial here.


What has he done? Who knows. He does like a good tease, doesn't he? Well, fortunately, due to his malicious jestful hints, I began to realise some patterns. And one of his little quips was that he gave a suggestion to repair one of the alien gates. For science. No schemes.

I am not sure I understand. As far as I can tell, the Earhart nexus shares no structural similarity with Nomad gate constructions beyond the basic operating principle of hyperspace tunneling, nor any intentional link. I believe it is part of a much older defunct network. Are you saying you believe its state to be the cause of the '31 blackout?

And you want to repair a nomad gate. Will you be calling DSE to get their Heavy Lifters on site?
Don't get me wrong, it's an intriguing prospect, and one I'd certainly be interested in contributing what I can too, I am a physicist after all, although hyperspace technology is far from my specialty.
I have some serious doubts about the practical feasibility of such an endeavor, though.

We do not need to employ a serious amount of manpower. Or at least, I, anyhow. The upside of these structures being more... 'biologically' aligned with the energy field, is that their wounds tend to heal themselves. It needs a subtle push and gentle nudge, from what I gather.

But no matter, if you have no observations regarding the materials that they gates may contain, perhaps you could take a peak at the Nomad gate I was made aware of in Omicron Zeta? You do not need to disassemble it. Just assess any trace materials you can see on your scanner. If they'd let you get near it...
