From: Eleanor Freud To: Laramie Incorporated Shareholders Subject: An Opportunity
"Dear Colleagues."
"Due to the recent destabilization of the route to the Tau Systems via the Baffin Corridor, our copper and iridium transportation venture has become significantly less profitable. Further complications may render this activity completely unprofitable."
"In this regard, I am submitting for consideration the question of accepting the contract we recently received from the Core. I have already sent you all the details of this matter. I will give you the brief rundown here."
"Our cooperation with the Core will be a long-term undertaking, consisting of logistics operations in support of their interests in the Omega Systems. We will also be responsible for maintaining security. The Core will provide us with their equipment for this purpose, as well as the resources to hire additional personnel. There is a catch, of course: the Omega Systems are notoriously dangerous and teeming with pirates of all sorts. It will be a risky endeavor."
"Personally, I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Even though we represent the Core, our hands will not be tied. We will be able to reap unprecedented benefits. But, of course, I cannot make such a decision alone."
"I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your attention."

from: Loretta Williams to: Laramie Incorporated Shareholders subject: RE: An Opportunity
"Good Evening."
"The destabilization of the route into the Taus was a heavy hit for us indeed. A lot of profit went into the stars and we have to look for new opportunities. This one does sound rather delicious and I have to admit, I am really tempted to agree. If we are from now on flying Core transponders I will be fine with that. It just opens even more opportunities for us. However, we will also make a lot of new enemies in the process. But then again, we would have made them anyway. I am in favour of it. Can't wait to get my hands on one of the big toys they have. I will make sure that our convoys from now on are heavily guarded if we have to move through the Omega corridor. But more about that later. For now, we should take this opportunity. It might never come again."

From: Eleanor Freud To: Laramie Incorporated Subject: Consensus
"Dear Colleagues."
"By majority vote of the company's shareholders, we have accepted the Core's offer and will be working with them from now on. All Laramie ship captains, as well as escort pilots, are required to change their ships' transponders to those of the Core before performing any other operations, if they have not already done so. The Core technologies are also now available to us, including their capital ships, should the opposition so require. Please contact me if you encounter any difficulties in obtaining the appropriate equipment."
