HOW DOES BRIGADE STRUCTURE WORK?
AUTHOR: CLOTILDA SORG & MATTHEW MILLER
FOR READ ONLY

INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION

The division of the 34th Brigade into wings was only a matter of time, as the diversity of tasks facing the Order is too vast to attempt to solve everything at once using standard methods. Delegation of authority is a typical solution to any problem, especially when it comes to breaking up a large unit into many smaller ones. If one of these units is compromised, the others must not only fill the gap but also avoid being infected.

In the Brigade's history, there has only been two instances where all known large units within it formed a single powerful force. Otherwise, each unit worked independently, within its own specific areas of expertise. In this document, you will find a general description of each wing and its mission, as well as the role of the Commandant's rank in the 34th Brigade.

KNOWN PROBLEMS

The main problem is that the Order isn't particularly popular in Sirius, in the best sense of the word. For 35 years, this organization has been a recognized enemy of all humanity and, at times, rivals the Nomads for the title of "most hated." The Order is no friend to anyone except the Bundshuh and the Dragons. Yes, we have the Zoners, but even they don't guarantee reliable cooperation, especially after the events of the fall of Toledo. As far as we can see, the Zoners are too neutral when it suits them, and therefore they often turn a blind eye to the grave mistakes of their "partners," which lead to tragic consequences.

Holding the Brigade together with a single, massive force and attempting to focus all its efforts on one area while turning a blind eye to everything else is a grossly irrational approach. It's unacceptable, it hinders our work, and it creates certain risks. We must be everywhere and on time, otherwise we risk a second Toledo falling somewhere else. This isn't about destroying the planet, but rather about the Nomads subsequently becoming much more active in spreading their influence across the Sirius sector.

Therefore, when the question of creating internal units arose, we set ourselves the following objectives:
  • Brigade must be capable of exerting forceful pressure on the Order's opponents.
  • Brigade must be able to strike without drawing attention to itself or the Order.
  • Brigade must be able to assist the Order both in combat operations and in the elimination of specific individuals who are a hindrance to either the Brigade, the Order, or both.
  • Brigade must constantly utilize its resources.
  • Brigade must be able to independently gather intelligence before committing its forces to a particular region, in order to have a list of options for subsequent actions in advance.
  • Brigade must fulfill its mission of exploratory operations, regardless of the geopolitical situation in the Sirius sector.
  • Brigade's units must be able to replace each other.

When all discussions concluded, the order of 831 A.S. initiated the creation of four wings: "Tau", "Omega", "Beta", and "Delta". In 832 A.S., the "Zeta" Wing was added to this list. Thus, as of 832 A.S., the 34th Brigade served as the focal point for a list of the Order's units, some of which traced their roots back to the 16th Strike Squadron. Others, however, were added during the Brigade's formation.

The 34th Order long-range expeditionary brigade «Hades» is the collective name for all of the units listed below.

OPERATING CONCEPT

Once the wings were formed, they immediately set out to carry out their missions. The rank of Commandant found its direct application here, as someone had to manage a specific list of wings, relaying orders from Headquarters. The Brigade was divided into two large groups:
  • Research and Espionage Group: Those who observe, gather information, and conduct various discoveries for the benefit of the Order. This group typically included those who worked in "Omega" and "Zeta" wings.
  • Military and Sabotage Group: Those who wage war in its most basic forms. Be it direct combat, sabotage behind enemy lines, or the elimination of specific individuals - this group was precisely what it was all about. This group typically included those who worked in "Beta", "Delta" and "Tau" wings.

The second group was originally conceived as something that would do the dirty work and not be afraid to get its hands dirty, drawing all the attention to itself while the first group continued to peacefully gather information. Well, now you can understand how everything works:
  • Captain - Leading whole Brigade and wings.
  • 1st Commandant - Leading 1st group.
  • 2nd Commandant - Leading 2nd group.
  • Commander - Leading one of wings in one of these groups.
  • Lieutenant - Experienced agent helping Commanders and teaching Ensigns.
  • Ensigns - New people in Brigade ranks.

Both Commandants were equal in authority and could also swap positions if the Captain so decided. However, the First Commandant always held primacy, as he led the part of the Brigade that formed the core of its work: research and information gathering. This is why Commandant Matthew Miller ranks above Commandant Clotilda Sorg.

The only exception to this scheme were the logistics units, each of which had its own Commanders. Typically, personnel from these units were assigned to one of the wings to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Clotilda Sorg Wrote:"Sounds a bit unfair, maybe we'll delete that part?"
Matthew Miller Wrote:"No, it will remain. You don't want the Brigade to turn into a combat unit, of which there are many in the Order, do you? Let people understand whose ranks they are joining and carry this idea after our death."

If we take into account the entire structure of the Brigade as a whole, it looks like this:
  1. Forming an order from The Order and transmitting it to Brigade HQ. Or forming the order at Brigade HQ.
  2. Transmitting the order from Brigade HQ to the Commandant.
  3. Transmitting the order from the Commandant to the individual wing, into the hands of the Commander.
  4. Further actions according to the order.

WINGS LIST AND THEIR TASKS

  • 341ST WING - TAU - "CLEANERS"
Conducting standard combat operations, providing protection to other Order agents and Brigade units operating in high-risk areas, conducting standard tactical maneuvers, and engaging the enemy's attention.

  • 411TH WING - ZETA - "NIGHTWATCH"
Conducting information gathering, espionage, corporate espionage, gathering evidence regarding the infection of individuals or their involvement with groups hostile to the Order. Establishing connections between suspected individuals or organizations, and ensuring ongoing data collection on the activities of both partners and enemies of the Order.

  • 351ST WING - OMEGA - "PATHFINDERS"
Scientific research activities within a separate unit. Dispatching research teams with appropriate escorts to areas of interest for the Order and the Brigade, respectively. Ensuring the Order's primacy in mapping new systems on the known map of the Sirius sector and in gathering information on new celestial bodies in known space.

  • 342ND WING - BETA - "GHOSTBUSTERS"
Elimination of individuals and important figures posing a threat to the activities of the Brigade, the Order, or humanity as a whole. Conducting targeted punitive operations.

  • 343RD WING - DELTA - "VOID GANG"
Conducting terrorist and sabotage operations on the territory of the Order's enemies or in the Sirius sector's Houses. Recruiting third parties from the pirate, criminal, and freelance communities to create a "crowd" for a particular operation. Acting on behalf of third-party groups unaffiliated with the Order, or on behalf of the Order's allies, depending on the task at hand.

LOGISTICAL UNITS

  • 1ST LOGISTICAL SQUADRON
Conducting repair and supply operations for ships in the Omicron regions throughout the Order's territory. Ensuring the smooth operation of the 34th Brigade's ships and conducting emergency rescue operations for specific individuals or ships in the Omicron region.

  • 2ND LOGISTICAL SQUADRON
Providing logistical support to the Brigade and the Order outside of Omicron, in the Sirius sector region. Shadowy deals to provide repair materials, weapons, and ammunition to ensure their uninterrupted flow to agents.

Logistics units are generally essential if the goal is to avoid unnecessary worries about supply shortages at a given agent base. Money isn't the issue. The problem is supply reliability. And the last thing a wing commander should be doing is worrying about fuel, food, or medical supplies.
