I am still new to the game and just shuttling my gull transport from point A to B and back again while trying to decide what to do for RP. I have read several threads, wiki articles, etc mentioning guard systems and rep. I don't think I have yet encountered anything tagged Guard, and in my rep list of factions I don't see anything mentioning guard. Can someone shed some light on this?

there isn t much of a difference there..

basicly - a "guard" rep means that you dedicate yourself a little more to the faction. - from a rules point of view - the guard ID ( which can only be purchased with a full guard rep ) allows you different things than the normal ID. - that doesn t mean that allows you "more" - but really only different stuff.

guard reps are mostly a self-achievement. - a guard tag usually appears hostile to those that are not closely affiliated to your faction - so it sets you apart a little ( which can cause confusion ) - but all in all.... guard rep or normal rep isn t very different.

edit: some factions consider the guard rep to be something completely different though. - like the BHG.

normal BHG are indeed "bounty - hunter" - meaning, they are mostly loners hunting bounties. - the BHG guard ID is the "core" of the BHG. they are an army, not bounty hunters.

<strike>People here might expect you to RTM about this sort of thing, but I have always appreciated it when someone threw me a bone so..... I'll show you where to find the answers.</strike> Heh.

Edit: more info here, if you want it. Kind of more of the same.....

And since I believe in teaching a man to fish instead of just throwing him one, you can find future answers by Googling what you're looking for.

[Example of a Google search that would find all instances of the words guard and system, within the Discovery Forums = guard system site:discoverygc.com/forums ]

Disco rules are hard to learn just by reading, if you see Order|Ophidian in game, PM me for your questions and I will try to help.

Also, Tazuras runs a help channel on Skype for Disco, you may want to check it out. The link is at his signature.
