Y'know, I remember a match I played a while back. The Neo block was the newest. I was playing online against a random opponent using my old standby, Eternal Rain - a classic Rain Dance deck periodically tweaked for newer cards, but still revolving around the original Rain Dance theme. Still using Fossil and Promo Articunos, even.

This person made a remark about Rain Dance sucking, and I could clearly tell he was using yet another copy of the same decks I'd been playing against regularly. He didn't do a very good job of it, though; I basically swept the entire match.

The lesson? Sometimes, newer cards can make older ones better too.

Considering that they did that, I would say that the Red Gyarados - which was a minor plot element - is perfectly safe.

"Minor"?

You is nu pokemaniac.

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

It attracted suspicion from Lance that led to discovering the secret hideout (somehow; that's never really elaborated upon), but that's it. There's no significance to the Gyarados beyond its unusual coloring, and even that only implies that something is amiss.

Therefore, minor.

On a related note, I fully expect the Rocket Base section to be a Double Battle section with you partnered with Lance.

I still believe that it isn't minor, since the Red Gyarados was presented in the game, anime, manga and probably cards.:P

It exists to show you that Shinies exists.

I remind you that showing it in the anime and manga has nothing to do with the game plot. For example, in-game you do not get the Rainbow Badge by rescuing a Gloom from a burning gym.

... not sure exactly how I know that one...

Not a plot point at all, since it never comes up again.

I'm not knocking the red Gyarados. It's cool. It's just not important to the plot.

Thexare, I just had the news that Erika's descendant is the leader of the GC! x3

Also... "Pikachu, aim for the horn!" probably is the best example of the anime's... erm... OORPness.

I used to have Shoddy. Dragonite > Garchomp. Setup I used for mine was 252 EV in Attack, Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch with Dragon Dance. Beats the heck out of those SkarmBliss...

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

Ash never said "Aim for the horn!", he actually said "Pikachu! The horn!".

Also: YAY.
