The following is intellectual property of Yngen and/or OrrinDymas, Malaclypse666, =BSG=, ELF
and FSFP. All rights reserved.

=BSG= and ELF wish to try something never done before in Disco history. What follows is a blueprint
for commentary and approval by Server admins and Discovery Mod creators.

I. Potential issues

-We wish to develop a totally customized pair of non-vanilla, non-guard systems in which we would do most of the editing ourselves. Both the ELF and =BSG= have modders that can do most of the work involved in designing the systems. We will follow any limitations the Mod creator specifies.

-We want to know what leaway we have in creating jump holes to other systems in order to encourage commerce through our systems. A primary goal is to have vibrant commerce through our systems to increase role play activity. We wish to make our trade route profitable enough to encourage traders away from the 2 'uber' routes.

-We want the option to introduce our systems in stages of development. To further immerse the community in the process of colonising a system. Early stages would show perhaps one station to be used as a staging platform for a large industrial effort to develop the wild system into a civilization. Later stages would show a developed planet that is dockable, shrines, wrecks and other things. The average time between mod versions seems to indicate we may do this over the space of 2 or 3 versions. (6-9 months perhaps)

-We want the liberty to add our own custom commodity.

-We wish to place faction-specific references into info cards, add rumors to NPCs in the stations, and permanently add to the overall story arc of the mod. Specificaly we want authorisation to add non-vanilla elements to the original story. Since niether faction involved is very closely related to any vanilla faction we realise this will take an artful and respectful brush stroke to our beloved enhanced Freelancer story. Considering the number of other Discovery servers we want the admins to resolve the disparity between allowing player factions to own and customize systems, and allowing other servers to do the same-thereby ending up with multiple versions of Disco...

Will Igiss continue to produce for the masses, or will focus change to producing simply the work in progress known as "disco 24/7". (BTW, I love idea of a "Discordian Freelancer 23/5" version too, but don't want the bloody headaches of being "God"...would prefer
to just work for Her.)

Developments: Mal's "catch" will turn out to be a "dumb primitive" Nomad precursor that eats space dust or anything else small, and ****s out atmospheric gases and heat. If new commodities are allowed, I will "deed" the patent to BSG, and we can both sell the "scrubbers" (working name..) in our systems. The RP objective being the financial downfall of Planetform, resulting friction with
the Crown (SF), and a reason for BSG to cut the cord (with Planetform.)

Operation Home Run: This would actually entail two slighly different designs, or stages. The idea is this.. a massive project to actually kick two planets out of their orbits.. give them high, slow arcs out of the galactic plane, and "two years" later, plunk them smack dab in their new homes. Of course when they arrive, they're scrubbed clean, lifeless, tabula rasa balls. (Thinkin' something along lines of Bora Bora in Humboldt for this phase.) We'll still have our bases constructed, but planet will still be
undockable/no atmo/no flora/fauna/water until next ver. of mod.

Eventually, we make both BSG and our planets liveable, dockable, and pretty.

Commodities:

Don't need a lot. Two "exclusives" would be "scrubbers" for BSG, courtesy W-LLC, and KG (Kallisti GOld.) symbols could be the caged nomie for the
"scrubber", and a nice penta-leaf for the KG. Then we'd do a mid-range price on a couple of specifics, so that traders could save
time by using Coro/Baff as "middle man", and still make profit.

Ex: diamonds, buy/sell at say.. 1K. engine comps maybe .. 800 per. Maybe one or two more that move n/s with healthy margins.


Yes, we think big. But we also think it is possible.

Just to comment on this, i believe the idea of having a dual system is a good one, but faction specific is not the way to go. I know of LOTS of servers that use this mod, and it wouldn't be fair to them to design a system based off of 2 factions among hundreds. As for as I know, none of the systems in design currently have faction specific references, although Omega-168 does is found by a 'survey expedition', no PC factions are mentioned.

I like the idea of gradual buildup over time, that would work quite well, however the faction-specificness is what bothers me, I don't feel it's fair to either the factions on this server, or on the other servers.

My 2 cents.

These are valid points, Koolmo. Indeed, that is why we are seeking clarification on the direction and intent of future mods. If they are to continue to be available to "the masses", then we will have to rethink certain aspects of our proposal. We will still continue with our plans.. it will just require more thought and "monkey motions".

If, however, we can make the case that "our" 24/7 universe deserves to be unique, which it is now, but subject to the limitations set by the "universal" nature of the mod; then we will know better how to proceed.

Just for the purposes of discussion, let's suspend our disbelief here, click our heels together three times, and imagine that there'll be a big sign on the door in future: Warning! This is "not" the universe you played in next door! Here there be tigers, and Scrubbies, and new factions with new Homes. Enter at the risk of your old paradigms!

Smack us down later, back to our senses. For the moment, let us dream big things.
