(This seemed like the right forum for this post. If I'm wrong, please accept my apologies and kindly direct me to the right forum. Thanks.)

I haven't been using Discovery for very long; only a month and a half or so; but I am extremely impressed with the quality and integration of the new features. Sure, it's not totally seamless (the occasional glitch/error with capital ships) but overall, the people involved have done an outstanding job.

That said, the writing aspect runs into trouble every now and again. Some of the spaceship descriptions, for example, are repeats either of each other or of Vanilla with some words swapped out (I'm thinking of the Mk. II fighters). The news stories about Tau-31 also seem to suffer from awkward phrasing, bad punctuation, and the like. This isn't a game-breaking problem by any means, and it's not like people are benefiting from exploiting it. Still, it can really wreck the atmosphere to see the clash between Vanilla and modded Freelancer.

Since I imagine the development team has to work on gameplay-tweaking, balance, and so forth, I'd like to volunteer my own services towards fixing this problem. I have some experience in creative writing and in sci-fi, and I'd be willing to look at or revise just about anything: ship descriptions, item descriptions, news stories, base descriptions, planets, ordinary, mysterious. I can provide a few writing examples if you're at all interested.

If you take me up on this offer, all I ask is an acknowledgment somewhere in the readme. That's it. In all truthfulness, I need to keep my writing skills sharp, which is why I'm volunteering. I like writing about this sort of thing, and I think it could make Discovery that much more professional.

Again, this is a terrific mod, and I would be happy to contribute what I can to it. Regardless of what you decide, keep up the great work. Cheers.

Well, here's a few samples just to get started. Let me know.

Medium Fighter Description (I'll call it Sabretooth for simplicity's sake)

Following a new trend in ship design, the Sabretooth is a medium strike fighter with the ability to operate far from its base of operations. Its innovative energy distribution system can power weapons that far outclass those found on similarly-sized ships, while a compact design and profile keep the Sabretooth quick and maneuverable. This is not a ship to be underestimated.

New Weapon Description (I'll call it Archer)

Like their ancient namesakes, the Archer series of weapons deliver fast, precise, and deadly projectiles at an impressive rate of fire. Though costly and energy-hungry, they remain a popular and powerful choice of mercenaries and pirates looking to end a fight quickly.

Yes, I alwasy admitted that my English is far from perfect, so if you can correct the errors and write something new, you could really help.

I can start with the news stories, because that's where it's most obvious. Is there a file somewhere where everything is contained? It'd be easier than going around in-game to every base and copying down a new item if I see one...
