Well, naturally, the proposals I made were out of the "logic" that felt naturally. I do not know what the Developer Team, let alone Igiss as the mod creator intended with some of the mysteries in Sirius. Ultimately, I guess Igiss says what is Kanon and what is not, and since its a tad difficult to catch up with all the events that occured in the years after, the only thing I really can do is... "assume". And we all know, if I "assume" I make an "ass" out of "u" and "me":D

So, since I have not really a guideline that tells what certain things are and what they are not (naturally), I can only shoot blindly. Of course if you tell me, that what you just said is Kanon, as Igiss made it Kanon, then I will pull the breaks immedeately! I cannot know anything that is passed along in secrecy, as being a player Nomad must obviously be permitted by admins so the broad base of sirius still has not the foggiest about it. Also I can understand that these informations are not submitted anywhere due to ooRP lore that could (and would) be abused.

The thing with the Dyson sphere is, I am still not convinced that it should fall apart anyways (except if it is meant to be because Igiss said it). With the Daam K'Vosh being rather "long" on the pulse of existence, the questions arise how much of a maintenance would be necessary anyway. We could guess, a Civilisation with that technology, would have no real effort to create auto-maintenance facilities like nanites or robots or whatever else thats beyond our imagination. Perhaps they just built the whole damn thing to LAST into eternity. Or just until the sun collapses / provides insufficient energy. The Dyson sphere must be able to withstand regular impacts of meteors and whatnots, so its either just bold massive or has incredible shielding capabilities, which are fueled from a part of the sun's energy the sphere absorbs.

Also, just by naming what we know from the game (and the Discovery wiki therefor), the Nomads were (perhaps?) inactive for several hundred years until Rheinland expeditions stirred them up. Also, judging from the fact that the shielding of the entrance in singleplayer mode was active and needed to be torn down, at least parts of the sphere remained intact.

What I COULD understand though, is that the Dyson sphere falls apart BECAUSE of the Hypergate's activation. Basically, there is no need to absorb all the sun's energy to fuel one single base there. So logically, the Dyson sphere must have been a giant battery that powers the Hypergate if it needs to be activated. So perhaps the gate has not been used for so long, and the power conductors and whatnot became undsteady, so it blew a few fuses inside the Dyson sphere. Then again, this implies that it was not maintained, which also implies that it would have to be maintained by manual meanings whatsover.

Quote:It would be nice, of course, but isn't anywhere on priority list of anyone around.
Is there any priority list to see what is upcoming or what is in the works or planned? Discovery 4.85 is rather fresh out on the server, so perhaps its not much focused yet? I dunno.

Bottom line is; I just spread ideas around, especially for Nomads, I don't know what "creator's rule" (Kanon) regarding them.
And please don't feel insulted if I didn't knew that YOU knew the Developer's take on the Nomads (if that is the case)!

to lose the prey is death,
to hunt the loss is insane...

If you want a roleplay explanation why then there you go: premature opening of the hypergate caused energy distribution malfunction, which was what Order predicted to happen and what they have precisely relied upon to thwart the Nomads' plan. Draining the energy reserved the sphere into sustaining the hypergate for a short time, and improper configuration (Nomads used it to harvest energy for themselves, so it wasn't in "Hypergate" mode nor configured to be so at the moment of activating) caused the severe damage to the system followed by segments holding it all together out of sync. Of course it didn't explode or anything, things don't always explode nuke Hollywood-style when they're critically malfunctioning (they, surprisingly, just stop working or working not as intended, out of characteristics), but anyway the damage was serious nonetheless. Majority of the Nomads (I estimate approximately 97-98% of their Sirius populace, counting in those who didn't survive the aftershock) effectively got sucked into the hypergate, the rest within the radius and a bit more of the sphere died out of energy deprivation. It's just those who didn't made in time to the sphere have survived. Consequentially with nobody to main such vast and alien structure (which was operated by the Nomads so pretty much only they knew how to work with it) I assume the Order have salvaged what they could for research before the area became too dangerous for them to travel. Remaining Nomads who came after salvaging what's left since they can sustain such volatile environment and used that to build up Iota/99 facilities. The sphere continues to degrade and slowly fall apart with remaining Nomads not having resources to fix it, not to mention constant Order interference. Effectively forcing them to find other means of energy source and harvesting methods instead of the sphere which supplied them all they needed.

To simplify it all draw a parallel between activating a hypergate and overlocking your PC to a critical level it can work on only for a brief amount of time before hardware overheats and burns out. Not saying that hypergate functionality is out of specs, just saying it would require proper configuration in energy distribution (read "special cooling" by analogue), otherwise goes poof after reaching critical stage. Your PC isn't going to explode instantly, it'll just stop working from the severe damage to the system, same here.

If that isn't convincing then I am afraid I don't know what is...

For obvious reasons to prevent game spoiling such information is typically restricted to development team. Myself I am just a former member of it though. Considering that nobody else picked up development of Nomad and the related content (and have a sad feeling nobody actually will) I guess it is still rests on my shoulders in some partial way.

On a side note I don't think there is any benefit in arguing with me, nothing to win here.

Please don't misunderstand me; I just asked and wrote to get a better understanding of things happening in this truly mentionable expansion of Freelancer, not to flame or to argue in a bad manner:)

Thanks for making it clear to me:):ylove:

There are ways into the second Omicron 92 and the Second Omicron Major (Dyson Sphere).
Me and UK server admin Aurelio have done it.
We used /testbot St03b, an admin only command (I tried it on my server), and it started beaming us around the Dyson Sphere.
/testbot St02c does the Omicron 92, which is actually the Nomad Lair in SP, where you have to get a nomad power cell.
