Holy...the moment I leave the thread in someone else's hands so I can get on with admin stuff, THIS happens?

Crikey.

Why doesn't everyone just have a bloody milkshake and calm down, THEN get back to debating this manner? I've had to trawl through eight odd pages of some of the most idiotic crap that I have ever seen.

You guys in India and Croatia - stop whining about not having a faction for your countries, and consider MAKING one! That's what I did, that way at least you can say you tried.

So, we've ruled out the following theories -
-Remnants of ANZAC broke through Coalition crusade.
-Secret Aussie Sleeper Ship.

We've stated these ideas as unlikely, but possible with a LOT OF WORK -
-Aussie survivors (maybe those who couldn't get tickets on the ANZAC), were given a spot on the Bretonia out of sympathy, then through tradition, stories, all that jazz, retained thier national identity.
-Repeat of why Aussie was first created - prison planet that eventually developed thier own national identity (maybe the prison foreman, having read some boring nonfiction book about it, decided to make his prison as Aussie as possible, and it caught on), and were eventually recruited out of desperation by the BAF.

These are more likely
-BAF volunteers who model themselves after the Aussies, having read about them in a similar book.
-Revival movement (based on unlikely idea 1), where anyone with some form of proof there's an Aussie or New-Zealand descendant SOMEWHERE in thier character's family tree can get in.

Comments/Critisism?

Ignorant to the last. It is not they who are criticising your faction. It is your 'fellow Australians'.

http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=29827&hl=

That was the last fanatic who wanted to make a faction dedicated to his own country. You lot and he are not so different. The reasons I could explain, but they would be too flamable.

As for the history behind your faction, pleased to see you're actually working on it now. Still not too happy about the current thoughts, I mean I know if I had an Australian ancestor from around 800 years/40 generations ago, I wouldn't even bother claiming 'citizenship'.

By the way, I don't know anyone who drinks 'milkshakes'.

Edit - Reading through the above topic, I kinda miss Del and Hoodlum.

Second Edit - I find your use of the word 'Crikey' somewhat discriminating. If you were to be our representation on Disco, it would imply that all Australians are of the intellectual level of Steve Irwin.

For the Core.

'Discriminatory'? Bugger off! He can use the word crikey as much as he likes, thanks all the same!

Culture can survive, even through 800 years.

If enough ex-pats decided to band together and form their own clan, then it could grow within the cultural framework of Bretonia/Liberty. Over time, they may be culturally strong enough to form their own identity in space.

The exchange you see above highlights one of the challenges of Australian culture - the 'ocker' cultural tradition and the cultural cringe that often goes with it.

Personally I would like to see the ANZACs make their home between Liberty and Bretonia - it reflects our current influences in terms of mass culture (Coronado has heaps of space!).

This raises an issue I want you to consider - what is it you are looking to bring to Disco?

Is it purely the Spirit of the ANZAC in a military sense? If so then perhaps the ANZACS could be a purely Bretonian military division (like the Scots Guard or the Ghurkas).

If it is an opportunity to bring a unique 'Aussie' brand of RP, then I would suggest starting with Indy Aussie characters.

I say this because if you are looking to present Australians as a surviving clan in Sirius - then they wouldnt be one homogeneous lawful mass. They would be all sorts - lawful, unlawful, trader, merc, pirate.

If you were to have a group of people playing Aussies within the Liberty/Bretonia region - covering all the different types of RP roles - then over time people might start to identify the Aussie culture in that region, start to pick up on that 'flavour'.

And THEN there is scope for modding to reflect any real growth in the clan.

You have to plant the seed in order for it to grow. Just a few thoughts from an Aussie...

I saw a guy floating around in Hamburg earlier with an [ANZAC] tag. For all those who know the story of the Anzac forces you may find it quite inspiring. I'm tempted to join.

If you want an ANZAC Bretonian military force, regardless of where the australian heritage comes in, you will need to fit your group around the BAF. Either decide to have an independent force who fight for themselves but not for Bretonia, or else treat the ANZACS as a volunteer force (i.e. International Brigade) or a unit of the reserve fleet (Territorial Army style) both of whom would act as auxillaries to the BAF (but be under the command of the BAF Admiralty either way).

If you didn't want to be under the command of the BAF Admiralty, I'd say you need to go for an independent group that lives outside of Bretonia e.g. Coronado or somewhere, and run your own affairs rather than fighting for Bretonia. Either that or be non-military altogether, though seeing as you've already started purchasing destroyers that suggestion might be a tad late...

In regards to this, We are currently working our ranking system out and were going to contact you about it at a later date. Right now, at the current draft of the ranking system I am working on, the ANZAC commander falls underneath the Fleet Admiral of the BAF in the chain of command, but not the rest of the Admiralty. We are quite willing to negotiate this and communicate with you about it in order to make this work as well as possible. Still, With the current plans, the BAF does have some authority over the ANZAC division.

If you want to talk about this further, contact me on Skype at "scott.wilson." and I'll communicate it through to everyone else, seeing as I am writing the current draft of the ranking and chain of command, and I can quite easily get in contact with Dunn if need be.

I'll be brutally honest, we just got Galia.
An Aussie faction would be like adding a smaller house, even if it was only player-based and not NPCs at all.
Just my 2 cents...

I was formerly know as Spiritar.

It's been a while.

Jaciek is on the money here - International Brigade is basically what we're going for.

We've scrapped any and all ideas of house/nation at this stage.

As for the term 'Crikey': It was around long before Steve, and it'll stick around without him. It is a pet peeve of mine that everyone seems to think he has a monopoly on the word.
