One thing is sure. This ID, if ever adopted, is bound to be ambivalent so to make the ID meaningful RP has to be good. On both parties of the issue.

Lets take a civil rights movement as an example. To make it enjoyable and meaningful for both activists and authorities it requires genuine word play and role play. Many ideas people have for some kind of activism can not be solved through pew pew. It's going to be a lot more complicated than that if played anywhere near real activisms.

I personally see that Civil Rights movement activism be the most difficult to play. You are doing it wrong if you are just looking for a fight with the miltary/police. And especially when you NEED the authorities to play along with you to distinguish from the same old pvp seekers.

And you are in real trouble if authorities are just looking for pew pew and do not want or are not able to take part in your role play.

So that's why it's crucial that the other party targetted by the activism is cool about it and willing to put the effort. And that's why I believe specific pet peeves against specific targets with specific goals (as simple goals as possible) have the best chance of resulting in enjoyable role play.

Summa summarum. Set up an activist group targeting companies or one perceived wrong thing. Because those who are in (trader) Company factions are in them for role play already and are more than welcoming to get some action going on. Besides it is with the scale of the activist group better.

And while I promote free choice that's why I also think it might be a special roleplay ID granted by admins OR the opponents (official faction). This way you could guarantee to some extent that the ID is used properly.

Flying under radar.

definition of activist is "One who takes an active part, usually as a volunteer, in a political party or interest group.", so, doesn't this falls under category of factions?

baltar said: "So an activist living in Bretonia might find themselves sympathetic to the Gaians cause while not actually becoming a Gaian ... thus they would be neutral to friendly with both Bretonia and Gaians."

this pilot that is sympathetic to gaians and bretonia could form bretonia faction "treehuggers"...there's no need for new id...

Activists are neither lawful or unlawful. They usually are on their own side. They might use both legal and illegal methods to get what they want. Look at many of the political activists on TV. PETA for example will use illegal tactics to get their point across. They will throw blood or red paint on anyone wearing a fur coat ... hardly legal. Others like environmentalists might set a deadly trap for loggers cutting trees ... some loggers have been killed because of such tactics. Others might stick to legal means ... like educating people on their pet issue.

Activists are usually single-minded people with only a single pet agenda. They may care about nothing else and may consider anyone that doesn't agree with them as an enemy.

Actually its really needed, becouse now most generic ID's can not represent some kind of movement with special objectives.
