I've got a number of new ship submissions recently. Would like to attract modellers' attention to a few issues that I encountered in some of the submissions.
1) HpMount hardpoint - when you create one in HardCMP, untick "Use numbering scheme" option. Otherwise, HpMount01 hardpoint is created. The game doesn't understand this and assumes that HpMount is 0, 0, 0, making your model sink into the floor of space station interiors when docked.
Name should be HpMount without any numbers.
2) Try to make models with symmetrical coordinates. Especially important for sides of the ship (left/right). This (obviously) doesn't apply to models that are not symmetrical by their own (like Spatial), but those are not typical for FL.
3) Lights. Usually there are no more than 2-4 dock lights, 1-2 head lights, and 4-12 running lights. The lights shouldn't have any turning angles, only x/y/z position matters. Better to position the light ~0,1 away from the nearest part of the hull.
Never position contrails and lights at one place, lights of different types in one place etc.
4) Countermeasures and mines: they go precisely behind the hardpoint when dropped, and the hardpoint can be placed the way that makes mine/cm hit the rear part of the ship. This is not very nice.
5) Use standard names for hardpoints. There was one Hptractor_source in one of the models, should've been HpTractor_Source or HpTractor_Source01. Yes, case matters! (posting this cause it's impossible to edit name of the hardpoint, possible only to delete and create new one)
To be continued as new issues arise:)
Other than that, models I've received so far were very good, all of them will be included into the game.
Yes i had that dammed problem with HP mount...no matter what i did iship always dropped through the floor..but thanks to you and legeonation i can create better modes now...
