The fact of the matter is that, like AgentMike said, having spoiler tags on the content of a page is not going to stop people from accessing the information by any means. When someone accesses a specific page, it's normally because they want to access the information it contains. Having things hidden by a spoiler template only means a couple extra clicks to get to that data.
THEY TOLD ME I COULD BE ANYTHING SO I BECAME A SIGNATURE PLS HLP
Should ALL of them? I'm thinking no, as there are some which are far more open than others. Baffin being a seeming example, as well as some other plans I've heard about in the future. So, maybe have it as a default, but not as a given?
Oh wow...
+1 fest, really nice people...
You are really helping us out...
I will say you why no spoiler thingy will be put on.
Because anyone can just get datastorm or anything and look at these.
What the wiki editors do is that they take the info from these programs and make it into a nice little page with pictures for your enjoyment.
A spoiler over the whole page serves no use, you dont want to see the info, you dont click the link to the page.
From everything I've ever seen about the wiki, it's meant to be a nice presentation of discovery content. It is about education, and a reference site for people.
Anyone who wants to find out something about a system will (hopefully) first go to the wiki, and see it all nice with pictures and useful information. Then if they can't find it there, they're gonna go to datastorm. I for one will not intentionally withhold information from the wiki that is easily gotten from the .ini files.
Let me ask everyone who '+1'd something - Do you already know absolutely everything about the content of the systems you're proposing be removed?
If you were in the faction that owned the system, would you like to be able to go to the wiki and find out the info your RP'd character already knows, or have to dig through datastorm and find the same info but uglier. (Because I know you don't remember every single detail that all your chars know)
Similar thing goes with the recent 'page wipe' that happened to the Venator and BSG. Look, the ships are in the game. You can't deny that. Why pretend they're not? If someone from, say, the USA server comes to the wiki, looks at the systems or ships (which are all entirely mod-specific, nothing exclusive to GC 24/7 is anywhere except the factions pages), and sees that the ship that they're flying (as the admin there) is "No Longer In The Mod"...
Player Factions, Player Groups, and Rules are currently the only things on the wiki that are specific to this server. IDs are to a lesser extent, but all other servers have the same .dll and .ini files and will have the IDs too, regardless if they use them for RP. If you all want to cripple the wiki just so you can pretend that you're keeping some publicly available info secret, then I don't see any reason to keep updating it.
tl/dr: No. I can see adding a "This is a Guard System" notice at the top, but no spoiler tag and certainly not removing the page.
Some say that he's a CIA experiment that went wrong, and that he only eats cheese. All we know is that he's not The Stig - he's The Stig's American cousin. Wiki sysop (admin-ish) | I do custom ship renders (and bases)
' Wrote:Probably, but even so, there are things I'd prefer not to be on the wiki at all. If there's a feature in a system that no human in Sirius should know about (such as a hidden unstable jumphole in an un-navigable region [hint!]) it shouldn't be put on the wiki.
OMG really?
And no, spoilers just make it an extra click away.
