Or just RP more? Get a team of real players. Also, a weapon that spawns NPCs would be a PvP whore weapon.

Make them expensive, and make them take up lots of ammo space.

And actually this can be done I believe if .ini files work the way I think they do. You can simply make the projectile an NPC of choice. I heard Virus speaking about this in a similar topic I believe and he had a definitive answer on the subject...it may have been someone else not sure. But I do believe this idea to be possible. Spawning NPCs and the like.

And remember in Flak88 one could hire a wing of NPCs to escort and fight. Combine those features with that... boom carriers begin to pwn. Of course Carriers would need to be made gunless and carry buttloads of these things... give the carrier one mine mount for these things. And about 1mil energy and make these things take 100k energy to deploy at a time. And of course in rapid succession.

Have seen this done Before (dare I mention another MOD, Freeworlds had this) was not used that much carried a high price and died as easy as most NPC's.

oh yeah, like how u can select a target for missiles. just drop a small platform and it will shoot that person.

the way i see it would be like a weapon that comes mounted on the ship already like the forward guns on some ships now.

it would have a very slow refire rate, the slowest in game actually.

range would be the longest also though, as it would be dependant on your targeting. so max would be...9.9k? depending on your scanner? i would think by the time a ship got to the carrier it would've had time to launch 2-3 fighters

i would think it would spawn one guard level NPC. and if it become too unbalanced it could have ammo added, number of ships in hanger type thing. maximum of 10-20 or something. for lag purpose i would say max of 10.

just my thoughts...would be interesting to play with.


edit: one thing about making it ammoless would be the fact that the way it would work (in my thinking) is the fighter would fight the original targeted ship until it either got blown up or if it blew up the target it would just despawn. so you'd have to use them kinda like missles. the AI would be singleminded. so for every new target you'd have to launch new ships
