I've been there, and to admit it, it's a lonely game.
The BAF claim they work with indies when they can, but they only occasionally allow an indie cap to join their parties. Nothin much else to do but hang on the jump gates or march into Leeds. But i'l tell ya tho, you ever want to get rid of a Kusari funboat, Bredessie is the way to go.
But I can relate to your enthusiasm to fly the Bretonian caps, their some of my favourite ships.

It must be a different timezone, because I have indie BAF ships in my group chat all the time.
The Bret dessie is fun to fly around, almost as fun as the Kusari dessie, but we haven't had a huge cap invasion for awhile, so you'll mostly be fighting smaller battles.
It's one ugly fish but it definitely packs a punch.
While many people think Bretonia is fairly unpopulated by faction activity, BAF does get called upon from time to time. I'd think most of your action would be against petty pirates, Corsairs and sometimes gunboats which you'll excel at.
I strongly recommend joining the BAF official faction since it's most likely you'll see action with them and receive support.
