Subject: Trade Relations for Port Jackson and Shasta Orbital Skyhook

Greetings esteemed potentates of Eris'€¦wait, that'€™s not how I do business. Start again.

Howdy. Name'€™s Pete Conroy. Somehow got put into this position seein'€™s how the last few bosses up and left without even cleanin'€™ out their inboxes. Suffice it to say, it'€™s high time we got down to business here.

Shufflin'€™ through some of these here papers and such, there'€™s a little message from Dewey, Cheatum & Howe law firm about a lease for that little plot of land on Syd'€¦er'€¦Gran Canaria that seems to have slipped by the wayside. Now I'€™m not one for procedures and such, but this seems to be a fairly important document. I'€™ve attached a copy of the latest that I can find in this disaster, and I'€™m hopin'€™ it can meet with your satisfaction.

Quote:1. The Port Jackson settlement, and surrounding area of 80 square kilometers, shall be leased from the Council of Zoners (hereafter referred to as the Council) for a period of not less than 10 (ten) years, during which time it shall be under the administration of Borderworld Exports (hereafter referred to as Bowex).

2. Throughout the duration of the aforementioned lease, Bowex transport vessels, and Bowex-owned escorts of bomber-class or smaller, shall be permitted passage through the Omega-49 system for the purpose of carrying refugees and necessary supplies (excluding heavy weapons) to the Port Jackson settlement, and that Bowex shall be permitted to defend said transports in the event that they come under hostile action.

3. The United Kingdom of Bretonia shall not call into dispute the Council's sovereignty over either the Omega-49 system or Planet Gran Canaria, nor will vessels of the Royal Bretonian Armed Forces enter the Omega-49 system without the express approval of the Council.

4. Bowex shall initially pay a sum of 100 million Sirius Standard Credits to the Council, and pay a sum of 30 million Sirius Standard Credits on a Monthly basis as payment for use of the aforementioned parcel of land.

5. The above agreement will be subject to renegotiation and renewal every 10 (ten) years from the date it becomes active.

6. Borderworld Exports, their Agents, and the Bretonian Crown will rescind and relinquish all claims and filings with the Sirius Astronomical Union regarding the name "Planet Sydney", and will henceforth recognize and acknowledge the Planet's rightful name of "Planet Gran Canaria".

I also took it upon myself to attach a full transcript of the previous negotations, what could be found anyway. Negotiations Transcript

Seein'€™ as if that meets your approval, I hope to reach an accord with you fine folks. The board, in the past whisperin'€™s, saw fit to bring a whole mess of people down to Sy'€¦dangit'€¦Gran Canaria willy nilly. I don'€™t fix to run the show as such myself. Oh, I'€™m sure there'€™s still gonna be some trips with them unfortunates from the warfront, but along with them would be a certain amount of them hulls from Leeds, and even some basic needs for them folks we fix to transport; food, water, clothing, that sorta thing. No need to strain the resources of that nice place you got there.

In return, my cohorts and I would be lookin'€™ to transport as much Deuterium as we can stuff into our ships off to distant lands. Where they go is best kept a trade secret at present, industrial spies bein'€™ what they are and all. Nowhere untoward mind you, wouldn'€™t sit right with the Crown ifn'€™ we were dealin'€™ with unsavory elements and all.

So, that'€™s about it for now. Feel free to give me a call back on this frequency if you wish to discuss anything further. I look forward to hearin'€™ from you.

Greetings, Mr. Conroy,

One of my greatest accomplishments were those negotiations for those poor souls to have a place to call home. My medical staff has also done well in looking after them. I have the original document framed and saved in my vault.

If you wish to continue flying supplies to them, you are welcome to do so. While we can grow more than enough food for all, one thing that is lacking are toys. To see the smile on a child's face when he or she receives a simple toy makes those horrible memories of the ravages of war seem to go away.

Deuterium.....this may take some work. I cannot represent all Zoners in this matter. I no longer chair the old Council of Zoners and the Zoner Alliance is no more. I must ask you, Sir, to where do you plan to ship it? Of late, things have been tense between the Bretonian Crown and the Zoners as a whole. If it suits you, Mr. Conroy, I can meet you and we can discuss details over dinner. I await your reply.

Howdy Doc. Good to hear from you.

First off, let me say that there's thousands of people wishin' to thank you for the work you put in toward giving'em a nice place to stay. A lotta families wouldn't've been able to stay together without your vision and patience

As for that mess over your Freeport out there...Well Doc, I ain't got no ill will toward you and yours, and personally think that Queen Carina got some powerfully bad advice from a bunch of blow-hard advisers concerning that. It wasn't right and I hope the Zoners don't harbor any bad feelings toward me and Bowex.
To the question of where that product from Gran Can is headed...well, since it's just between you, me, and the desk. I've got a little something in the works possible for trade with those Gas Miners up in the Sigmas, and they've a need for that Deuterium of yours. Plus, as Borderworlds Exports, we do tend to make it out into the nether-reaches of space, and would be making deliveries to that Freeport out in Delta in exchange for some of that hard-to-find mineral you got out there. Like I said before, no unsavory sorts; that's for other, less reputable shipping companies.

As for a little sit-down, that sounds a might pleasurable. Your place or mine, as it were. Or would you prefer to meet on some more...heh...neutral ground? I'm available this evenin', sometime after 0100 SMT, otherwise business has me off and about for the next four days, and next I'm available is Monday evening, oh, 0000 hours SMT. You just let me know what's good for you and we can work out an accord.

Respectfully,
Pete Conroy

Doc,

Moving Deut. has always been a challenge. I agree we must move forward with care, but the keyword is forward. No we do not speak for all Zoners, however I suspect that the others will make their minds known. As it stands, TAZ has always been involved in such negotiations, I see no reason to end that tradition. Of course, I am in favor of toys for the kiddies and food supplies, and the funding of which can be easily absorbed by a small percentage, levied against the Deut. shipments. I see no reason why pilots wouldn't be willing to make a half percentage (that's 0.5%) deduction for this cause. However, such a levy should be limited in size and time. I've crunched the numbers and I think we can accommodate, with a little help from our friends, the needs of the children.

Howdy Doc. And to you Ms. Kyte, ma'am.

Didn't get a chance to see each other last night it seems, business bein' what it is and all. It's alright though, me and one of my captains made a jaunt out to the Sigmas for some pathfinding. Even ran into a Guildsman for a spell. Friendly folks they are.

As for our little parlay, what say we do something on Monday evening? How does 2330 or 0000 SMT sound to you?

I'll be out of touch on business over the next few days, so don't take no offense if you don't hear from me immediately. I'll be sure to check my messages first chance I get.

Well, I'm back from that trip, and itchin' to get back down to business. I hope, Doc, that we can get together very soon, as I've got some transport captains barkin' at my heels. Sure enough they hope to see Port Jackson again about as much as I do.

I can fly out to meet you anywhere you'd like Doc, just tell me where and when.

*Ahe-hem* Surely you all haven't forgotten about our negotiations I hope. I hope to bring the Silverstone down that way with some needed supplies later today, and will try to get into contact with any TAZ that I can spy out.

Hope things are well. Do give a holler if there's something me and mine can do for you.

Subject: Humanitarian efforts and Negotiations Updates (Addendum to previous transmission)

Well, it's good to see that some of you are keeping up the Bowex good name. Keep up the good work you all and I'll do my best to see you rewarded.

First off, negotiations are on-going with both the TAZ and with Ageira. I hear that both delegates are on extended leaves, and just ain't around to finish talks at present. Things keep on the way they are, I'll be lookin' fer a pilot or two to take my Donnington out to them Omicrons. As for myself, I've been doing some humanitarian runs, both in the Silverstone and as temporary captain of the Majestic Skies after captain Kerns-McFee graciously offered her services.

First, I took the Silverstone and loaded her with some much-needed supplies and headed for Port Jackson. Talks with Doc Holliday and the rest of the TAZ are paused at present, but the good doctor did mention a mighty need for some certain supplies. You all should have seen the looks on them kid's faces when the staff at Port Jackson started passing out some of New London's best toys. Warms my heart sometimes. Um, anyway, Cargo Manifest is attached.

Cargo Manifest for [i]Silverstone

After making it back to New London, I talked with Jerome of the Majestic Skies of the needs that the Doc parlayed to me, and of my last visit myself, and convinced him to take the company's Royal Liner on another trip to Canaria. We took a little trip around Bretonia and gathered medical supplies, doctors, and staff, and headed back to Canaria. With the Doc away in the Omicrons, I'm sure the staff at Port Jackson can use all the help they can get. Manifest is attached for the second trip as well.

Cargo Manifest for Majestic Skies

So the hope is that negotiations continue, and that in the meantime, keep up shipments to Nuremburg and the occasional trip to Canaria, as well as hauling that ore for the war-chest.

Respectfully submitted,
Pete Conroy
