Mr. Ryo,

I do not believe we have been formally introduced. My name is Hans Jurgen the eldest son of Nicholas Jurgen. My sisters and I work with our father in making Jurgen Mining & Freight as one of the most profitable businesses in Rheinland. I am very appreciative of the fact the Samura Heavy Industries has partnered with us in making that possible. Now as to why I am calling.

My father spoke with you about a business proposition while you and others from Samura was picking up ore. The proposition dealt with Jurgen Mining & Freight along with Samura Heavy Industries creating a Joint Venture in applying for and purchasing a barge which would increase our storage capacity and benefit both our companies. My father has asked me to contact you and see if you had the opportunity to speak with the other directors of your company. I would like to refresh your memory but also change what he initially proposed to you.

1. Jurgen Mining & Freight is willing to pay $300 million towards the purchase of the barge. Samura Heavy Industries will only pay the remainder in having the barge built.

2. The barge will be built at Aland Shipyard in Omega 3. The barge will also be permanently located somewhere in Omega 7.

3. Both Jurgen Mining & Freight and Samura Heavy Industries will have access to the barge. Jurgen Mining and Freight is obligated to have the barge filled to meet the requirement of the contract already in place between our companies. Samura Heavy Industry personnel may haul off ore at any time during the week if there is ore available.

4. Samura Heavy Industries is to offload as much ore as they wish on Wednesday and Saturday. These are the days agreed upon by both our companies in our contracts. The amount agreed upon for the ore is to be placed on the barge for the amount of ore taken. A representative of Jurgen Mining & Freight will collect the payments and forward them to our accounting department.

5. Jurgen Mining & Freight may sell any ore to other companies as contracts arise. However, there must be enough ore on the barge to fulfill the contract between our companies. I will contact you and make you aware of any contracts we have with other companies for any other days of the week. This will allow us to meet and fulfill the requirements of those contracts.

I believe this is a win/win situation for both our companies. We mine it and you haul it at anytime on Wednesday or Saturday. Also any days in which we are not obligated with other contracts. My father said you were interested. He has also spoke of you as being an astute buisnessman.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Konnichiwa Mr. Jurgen-san.
I am Okada Kazuya, Director of Personnel for Samura Heavy Industries.
I am sorry to inform you that this communication was routed through to my office by mistake.
Currently your transmission is being re-routed through the correct lines and you should expect a response shortly.
As I have seen various documents and records relating to our business dealings with Jurgen Mining & Freight I can say we are very pleased with our relationship.
I look forward to another chance to talk in the future.
Sayonara,
Okada Kazuya.

Konnichiwa Jurgen-san,

As Director Okada Kazuya told you, your message has been forwarded to me. However, the matter itself needed lengthy discussions to be sorted out. Now, as the recent scheduled deals showed, we might indeed be better off when utilizing a Barge. "Might" is the keyword in there though.
What we at Samura find most debatable at this point is the last one of your proposal. I'm sure you understand that Samura is investing into this vessel and hence risking financial losses in case of it's destruction. While we do not accuse Jurgen Mining and Freight of being sloppy while conducting business, we have to question the proficiency of any possible third party contractors.

As a possible compromise Samura Heavy Industries can offer two options:
1.) Each third party contractor will have to pay Samura Heavy Industries 150 million credits to get access to the Barge too. Jurgen Freight will have to deal with all consequences of any possible destruction or damage and any possible loss of cargo caused by third party contractors. Should the Samura Heavy Industries personnel be unable to acquire sufficient ore on Wednesdays or Saturdays, even if caused by any third party contractors, Samura Heavy Industries will fine Jurgen Freight 100 million credits per offence for violating this contract*.

2.) Third party contractors will not be allowed to access the barge themselves. Jurgen Freight will have to ensure that the barge is filled up each Wednesday and Saturday. If the previously mentioned condition is not fulfilled, Samura Heavy Industries will fine Jurgen Freight 100 million credits per offence for violating this contract.

Sincerely, Marusa Ryo
Samura Director of Resource Acquisition

*Jurgen Freight may feel free to forward the fine to any third party contractor found guilty.
If Samura Heavy Industries has obtained 25.000 units, the contract is considered fulfilled for that specific day.

Guten tag Mr. Ryo. I am so glad to hear from you. I was a little worried that my offer somehow got lost between here and Shinjuku Station. Well, where should I begin.

I believe our business relationship has been good although we have had some bumps along the way, but we have managed to deal with all that has come our way. I will answer each one of your request separately.

1. I understand your concern, however, since Jurgen Mining & Freight is paying for half of the barge and the ore on the barge is the property of Jurgen Mining & Freight until Samura makes payment for that ore we reserve the right to sell it without third parties paying Samura for access to the barge.

Here is my proposal.

I will not sell to third parties on two conditions.

1) Samura guarantees that at a minumum 60k of ore is hauled per week. Guaranteeing my company sales of $300,000,000 SC per week. If Samura Heavy Industires does not meet the obligation, Samura must pay the difference. Ex. You haul 45k of ore you still must pay for the other 15k of ore for that week. I will check the barge daily and replenish as needed. All payments should be onboard the barge for the ore that is missing. Ex. 20k ore is gone then 100 million SC must be onboard.

I will send a message with evidence time stamped with how much ore is onboard, when it is full, and to let you know that payments are received. If anything happens to the ore, lost or stolen, while Samura is in control of the Barge then Samura Heavy Industries is responsible for my payment of all the ore. Ex. 40k ore is lost or stolen then Samura owes Jurgen Mining & Freight 200 million SC.

If you exceed that amount I will drop the price of ore by $1000 SC to $4000 SC per unit of ore hauled above the 60k contractural agreement. The cost of silver ore transported above the contractural amount of 60k would cost Samura only $4000 SC per unit.

By the same measure, if Jurgen Mining & Freight fails to meet this obligation then we would make up the difference without cost to Samura Heavy Industries.

2) Samura pays for the barge and provides access to the barge to Jurgen Mining & Freight so we may meet the obligation of this contract.

Now as far as paying a fine for damages to the barge. We do not pay fines Mr. Ryo. Especially if Jurgen Mining & Freight is investing half the capital to build the barge. If something happened to the barge Mr. Ryo then that would mean the ore would be gone as well and that would be a sufficient amount of financial loss this company is willing to take. Besides, I enjoy living Mr. Ryo, dying is not much of a living nor does it suit me.

If Samura pays for the barge in its entirey then we can work something out. A fine of $100 million is to excessive for my taste. If you chose not to pay the cost for building the barge, we will not accept nor would we recognize any fines levied upon us. Sirius is a dangerous place.

If we have a deal Mr. Ryo, which I am sure we can work it out, the next step we would need to take is have private communications as to the location of the barge.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hans Jurgen

Konnichiwa Jurgen-san,

I can assure you that your transmission made it safely to Shinjuku. Sadly I was observing our operations in the Seto system at that time and the message didn't get rerouted automatically.

As for the business: Samura Heavy Industries indeed is capable of building that barge on its own. By that however, Samura Heavy Industries would have the full control of said vessel and could choose possible third party contractors in case our needs of Silver ore would exceed the capabilities of Jurgen Freight.
Mind, we do not assume that this is the case right now since our transports are tasked with many different routes aside of shipping ore.
With Jurgen Freight being able to check the amount of ore on a daily base, we don't think there's a need for a pre-defined amount of ore. Especially not with a 100% increase of the weekly cargo volume.
However, having Jurgen Freight being able to at least provide 40k of ore per week would be appreciated.
This would sum up to the following points:

Quote:
  • Samura Heavy Industries will construct the Barge and become the owner of said vessel.
  • Jurgen Freight will be granted access to the Barge to deposit as much ore as possible.
  • Samura Heavy Industries is tasked to transport off as much ore as possible.
  • Samura Heavy Industries deposits 5.000 Sirius Credits per transported unit of ore on the Barge.
  • Samura Heavy Industries will furthermore deposit 5.000 Sirius Credits per each unit of ore lost as long as a Samura Heavy Industries employee is in command of the Barge.
  • Jurgen Freight will receive no compensation from Samura Heavy Industries for any ore lost while a Jurgen Freight employee is in command of the Barge.
  • Samura Heavy Industries, being the owner of the Barge, is allowed to include possible third party contractors if Jurgen Freight is unable to cover the needs of Silver Ore.
  • In case the Barge is forced to retreat from it's usual position due to heavy damage, the party that was in command has to inform the other side and assure the Barge will be back in place as soon as the needed repairs have been performed.

Let us know if these terms are more acceptable for you.

Sincerely, Marusa Ryo
Samura Director of Resource Acquisition

I do not have an issue with these terms. However, Jurgen Freight & Mining reserves the right to renegotiate or cancel the contract if the Silver field is depleted to the point of not physically able to fulfill this contract.
