Ok, so here's my rant for the month.

I was reading this faction idea post for LL, and it hit a nerve with me. I am tired of faction starting up, trying to be "Neutral with everyone". It really bothers me, OPG tried it and others have to and it seems ridicuous to me, why would you want to go around and do nothing, because your neutral to everyone. LL it a traders faction, and I really think it's a cop out so you can make as much money as possable without any trouble. I have the same feelings about Zoner traders. I dont attack them because it would be out of RP, but I think it's a really cheap way to not have to fight anyone. I really think a faction that is neutral with everyone like the Zoner shouldnt be allowed to trade. Why would anyone not have a zoners tagged and ID trader? You dont have to be worried about being pirated you also dont have to worry about lawfuls(unless your carring contraband). I have 2 traders, one is a firefly with a trader ID, this ship has to worry about being pirated, I also have a FA tagged and ID trader, when I trade with that(even carrying legal goods) I have to worry about being attacked by lawfuls. It seems to me that the Zoner ID should be changed to not allow trading like the Merc ID, and I think factions that try to be neutral with everyone should not be trusted and be attacked by everyone ( this is just about what happened with OPG ).

There it is, my rant of the month

You know, they're pretty much fair game unless they're actually friendly to you, say, the RoS trying to pirate the BLS...

but would a corsiar or outcast really risk a deteroration of relations with the zoners by attacking one of their ship (in an RP sense) the position of the Zoners in the Sector is a very delicate balance and corsairs nor outcasts would risk messing that up.

Where in the LL idea post did it say anything about being neutral to everybody? The idea is that it's Orbital Spa & Cruise, so it'll have the OSC's enemies, in addition to every last pirate faction in Sirius. Especially the Gaians, though there aren't many of those around nowadays.

I think you're overreacting. Eliminate all Zoner traders? Zoners have no enemies, save for Nomads, so what would Zoners do all day? Limit them to freighters, fine, but honestly...what happened to make you so angry at the idea of neutral traders? And Zoners do get pirated anyway, by the way, just not by the large Outcast and Corsair factions. It's the leagues of independents in gunboats and bombers.

Also, you don't have to fight anybody for the most part...but you don't GET to fight anybody, either, except for Nomads. If you're trying to RP a Zoner properly, that is. (would've typed more, but have to go and can't save this for later on this computer)

Yeh the faction - faction thing Im hoping would be all out neutral - quote from the LL thread

the problem is people who set up a Zoner trader and then use it to fund thier other ships which are not Zoners. THey use the protection of neutrality to fund chars who are not neutral. I see lots of zoner traders nowdays, and why not it's an easy safe way to get your Corsair cruiser or outcast battleship. I just think it's cheap, if you want to trade trade if you want to smuggle smuggle but be lawful or unlawful. I'm not talking about Trader ID's carring contraband, I'm talking about the zoners, which are the only neutral faction, having traders that fund other factions activites.

Yeah, Orbital Spa have their enemies... but even they like holidays every now and then. Orbital Spa often allow drug dealers aboard their vessels for instance, providing that they aren't scruffy sorts.

They can, however, expet to be pirated. In fact, this can often be used to advertise trips.

'Experience the exciting run through Corsair territory on our Sigma Run! We have great insurance, so your valuables are covered! We attempt to flee, as is prudent, but should they catch up, we surely won't let them hurt us! In fact, you might get to see some Corsairs explode from the viewing deck or you'll see our jolly Captain handing the brave pirates some cash!

Tickets are selling fast! Buy your SIGMA RUN tickets TODAY! Call NOW for early bird discounts for next year!'
