So.. I got intrigued by Skyrim. I played Oblivion and I am now asking, is it worth to run over I, II and possibly rest of them if available for download?

Or just to read story, and what happens.

I am also interested in time-line of those games, I could check it on google but It just popped in my head while I was writing so I'll just ask here.

Basicly I'd like to know history of Tamriel as short as possible.:)

Anyway I'll look for this on google just in case, but it will be mess to figure out sometimes what's first and what's second.

I would stick with Morrowind, and Oblivion. Earlier were buggy, and Daggerfall was Floppy disk(although may be to download somewhere). III,and IV should keep you busy for weeks, they are not small games, and do use alot of time. Both also have a ton of Mods.

I've played all 4, and whlie the first 2 were fun, they're extremely generic in terms of gameplay and the 'look' of everything because everything was randomized I believe. Up until Morrowind and Oblivion did everything become more specific. They're all still fun to play, but if you just want to catch up on the lore, I'd just read the summaries for the first 2.

Morrowind still is a lot of fun, and there is a huge modding community which adds plenty of content and makes everything prettier. Daggerfall and Arena are free to download on the Bethesda website, (You'll need a DOS emulator to run them) but as Ryoken said, I still fall through the floors in Daggerfall and it is plagued with bugs.

Get Morrowind, with its 2 add-ons. I'm playing it at the moment, and it's tons of not so old-school fun.
I also recommend you to download this mod. It improves graphics a lot, and has a lot of little features that enhances gameplay while keeping the vanilla Morrowind feeling.

Great, thank you. So far link is great, don't have time now to read much but I believe it has most important things I wanted to know.

I only played mod-less Oblivion, I believe I can find game again. Just to see friend.. not sure about Morrowind. Though there are certain ways I think I can get it. I think there was thread about mods for these so I won't ask what to download I'll just search for them once I get the games. I hope soon.

Oblivion was the only one I've played, but I couldn't give in to all of it's immersion. It kept on trying to pull me away from other games, and I hated that.

So I left it half way through.

I suspect V will do the same.

Played all 4.. finished all 4... First 2 was extremely buggy... and They are dos games with crappy graphic... but i really enjoyed Daggerfall the most..... whole Lich King story and random dungeons possibility to buy houses ships getting married even... a lot of skills... armors with more parts... Yea Daggerfall was gooood....

Morrowind have really good story line.. i really enjoyed main Quest... but crazy fauna and flora of that province was a minus for me.... I gonna try it again with enhanced graphic modwhere everything look little bit more normal...

Oblivion was kind of disappointing... nice graphics all right main Quest... great Dark Brotherhood sub ques (enjoyed it a most) but cutting on skills simplifying armour parts make me fee like something really missing in that Game...

i have weird feelings that 5th part will be just nice looking piece of crap... and I really hope I'm wrong...

I've played Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion, but not Arena. Daggerfall was a bit generic but huge, like the size of the UK, but for the most modern interpretations of the series check out Morrowind with the 2 DLCs, great stuff. Daggerfall is also free to download as well now I believe.

As for a History have a loock at this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:History should explain a lot of things, but at a very basic level, X amount of Gods created the world of Nirn, on which Tamriel is a continent and the Elder scrolls are scrolls which predict vitally important events in Tamriel. I'm going to have a read up on the Lore myself as I'm not too familiar, unlike Fallout and Mass Effect, so now you've mentioned it I'm going to read through it tonight!
