every official faction needs to pay lets say 300 mios / week. And the money is given to the 5 most active independent players this week of the respective ID. So the indies would finally get some sort of compensation for all the annoyance they have to endure from the offi guys.
Yes, beacuse CNS_Jack and KiLlAH.CaPtAin need more money for their battleships.
I get that you really hate official factions, but dude, it's your own fault.
You and your factions used ID's in a manner inconsistent with what they were, and put an extremely negative light on the official factions behind those ID's.
You basically left a pile on their front lawn, and now your raging beacuse they did something about it.
I don't want this to derail the thread, but stop trolling in a serious discussion.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|

Bindo symmed it well. But...
I have two accounts. Technically three. But the third is empty.
Now.
Thats ten characters.
Out of those ten, ONE is tagged with an Official faction. One.
Dakun, i've been here two years or so. Way longer than you.
I might not like it, but I accept the fact Officals get some righrs, privleges, etc.
Though I dont want them getting free creds, neither should they pay indies. Thier creds go to WHAREVER they want. They shouldnt be helping lolwuts get a lolcapship. Or makin' me
rich come summer.
As someone with all indies (yes I have an Order|. Its a trial, not full membership) I dont like this.
Yes, faction LEADERS put alot of work. Yes, admins do.
But if they get extra income, we all should.
Offical factions shouldnt get better treatment and benefits just because someone said "yes" to an app and has a pretty tag.
Thats my stance.
If this was implmented right, this would help the factions spend more time on RP then on power trading just to progress a little bit. Its the RP that moves this server forward not the credits and most of the large changes in the server story wise has been because of the official factions and their RP. not to say the indies havent contributed but not in a major way to determine the path for an entire house/npc faction to the best of my knowledge....and yes i have seen some amazing RP from indies in game and forum side. a lot of time and personal credits is put into faction and leading one can be stressful (for a game). hell faction recruitment would go up quite a bit if said faction could afford to pay for their new members starting ship. offical faction deserve some o the fruits of their labors.
every time i hear the "if they get it, so should i" it equals "everyone gets a trophy just because they played the game....and lost"
or "bad RP, cause its not your RP" thats like everone on the server is playing cowboys and Indians the some random kid come and shoots squanto with a beam cannon...and wond wonders why all the other kids are saying GTFO
(@Jeremy_Hunter: This isnt intended to be a personal attack on you, i just used you post to start a rant.)
EDIT: out of the 10 characters iv had over my spaced out 3 years here only 3 of them have been in an faction..now its 1 and my other 3 are Indies. so im comfortable to say this isnt a biased opinon.(feel free to dissagree)
Let me tell you what this thread is not nor intended to be.
1. To make individuals richer
2. Make an official faction richer
3. Give anyone an unfair advantage
4. Make ships and equipment prices lower
5. MAKE MORE WORK FOR ADMINS
The last one is in all caps to obviously stress a major point. It is also the reason in my original post to make it easy on them by just writing some new code to make it happen and then they are done with it. Not to add more to their plate by making them monitor it.
My intent was to help official factions. Look around. Most are inactive. Especially the trading ones. Dauman just disbanded. See where I am going?
Where is RepEX? Gateway? Planetform? Bowex? Just to name a few. That is my point. I also realize that people enjoy variety and decide to play their other characters. But come on. To the point where you never or hardly see any trading factions?
This is an idea that was SOLEY meant to improve faction activity, faction RP, and interaction between factions. Nothing else.
Most factions run on donations from its members, however, you leave it up to an individual to donate or not, well 99.99% of the time they do not donate to help their faction. Why? Because they earned their credits and want to use them how THEY see fit. Rightfully so.
I am not saying this is the great fix for all trading factions or other official factions. But you have to admit it would be a start.
Wasn't the mining nerfed to get people to stop camping in one system? To get them to move around Sirius? Think about this. Do you not think that this will get people to be more active especially when they are working toward the cause of their faction?
I also see how other factions are creating contracts amongst each other. I personally would like to see more of this interaction, but it won't happen if a select few in each official faction has to pay for it. I also believe that this improves RP.
I have proposed in the past and so have others concerning attaching commodities to id's and giving them a bonus for carrying those goods. That was obviously shot down.
Most understood my OP. I just wanted to clarify my intentions for making it for those who appear to have misunderstood it.
Edit: What if there was an FL hook command that would allow a faction to create a code based upon the contracts they create. Meaning, if Daumann and Samura have a contract for Samura to bring goods to any of their bases. Dauman gives them a code that is attached to a specific commodity. When it is used the agreed upon amount is paid to them.
The point where I would deem it useful was when we could implement ingame bounty-boards that would be fed by a bank not assigned to a player account. Said bank then could be filled depending on the trade happening on the paying faction.
Sure, needs more details and probably quite some work, but might make it on some notepad out there.
' Wrote:Go play the game, within the given limitations. That is how role play games are played. Not by trying to work around those limitations or whining about them.
Sounds good, like Silkroad. Heres an add-on. Admins hire a new fella who has accounts for each faction, and factions have to request 'x' funds to use on 'y' project. He then distributes.
I'm not sure if I think this is a good idea or a bad idea. On the good side I see this:
I'd have to spend less time trading mining just to feed OSI's bank so that we can pay the monthly bonus to our members that we pay. This idea would mean I could set up more shared ships so that new members don't have to purchase their own vessels, which helps with recruitment. Also means I won't cringe when I need to post bounties.
On the bad side:
I can see this being abused and I'm not sure just because we are official we deserve it.
