For the system to be able to do dual monitoring you need to have multiple graphics outputs. That can be attained either by having one card with two outputs or having multiple cards on a ocmputer.
I need to see the specifications of your system to confirm whether it can support dual video output or not, but considering it is only 5 or 6 years old I will say it can.
Most probably you will have to add a new graphics card (some Motherboards allow you to use on-board graphics card simultaneously when there is another card in the slot...see if your mother board can do that).
If it was a high end gaming computer 5 or 6 years ago you must have a AGP 8x slot. If you are lucky PCI-e x16 (though most probably you dont have this).
You should be able to buy a decent AGP card online for under 50 dollars that can support dual outputs.
...and you do not need a separate program to run dual screens.

That line has three options for graphics cards (which is the thing which renders the images on your monitor and is the spot where you plug the monitor in). All of the graphics options for that Alienware come with two DVI ports, meaning you can plug two monitors into the card.
So, to review. Yes, the Alienware can dual screen. Dual screen-ing requires the right graphics capabilities and two ports for monitor outputs on the card.
