Going to just quote Haste from the last time someone complained about the IMG being able to make unreasonable demands.
Haste Wrote:The rules as written already handle this properly:
```"Piracy" - a reasonable demand issued to a ship which can be attacked if it fails to comply. Piracy can include requests for credits and cargo or a roleplay requirement, such as following a instruction or answering a question.```
As you can see, this PoB's situation is different: the attackers already have plenty of ground to simply attack the base. No matter what BMF says or does, the base can be attacked. They don't even need to be directly sent a comm on the forums like they were. IMG| could simply post some roleplay in a message dump and link to that in the attack declaration thread. Instead, they opted to demand a pretty *unreasonable* sum to provide the base owners with an alternative. They have, reasonably (lol), chosen not to pay it, and as such we're back where we started (IMG attacks the base).
This was in relation to a base, but the same applies for ship piracy.
Nicolás Diego, MFN Neuss/Helmut Schmid I would like to say that I am glad that you responded but the tone used in your response is not a rather toxic one. But non the less I will once again explain why your Daumann ship is not susceptible to the piracy demand rule
IMG|GPV-Heavy.Duck did not make a piracy demand but it was a request made using the “-Can attack Competitors outside Bretonia”. With lines similar like this one ALL CORPORATIONS have the ability to shoot their competitors in ZOI it even exists on the Daumann ID (consult image bellow). Now when you have an ability to just kill someone you can make impossible requests as Karst pointed out 100 Mill. There isn’t a reasonable demand requirement. The whole reason why this Piracy rule exists is to protect the transport ship class as they have no option of defending themselves in majority of situation, hence a rule to make sure that the player behind the transport ship doesn’t decide to break RP and type “Just kill me”.
If the Duck really wanted to be a dick he could have just shoot you on spot after two lines. He gave you an option to keep your cargo and because you were AFK he increased the demand. But if you are so aggrieved by the 5 million credit loss then the player behind the Heavy Duck is willing to return 2 million credits to you.
Now to explain why r why the IMG Regulation can be quoted in this instance.
As you wrote that you got the Niobium from Biacris who is ran by GMS that is considered a mining operation and you were transporting Niobium mined by this group hence it is considered illegal.
As for the demand itself it is unimportant that you did not make any profit as this was not a piracy interaction. For reasonable demands the in my opinion the highest possible sell price is used not whatever pob you chose to supply. Yes that means the Delta sell price on Durban. Barges are not to be excluded from this no matte how hard it is for you to fly it out into Delta. It is not a exception to the rule same as a freighter full of the same materials.
A member of the faction I run is not required to answer to your OUT OF RP messages. Nor is any normal player required to reply to you. I as a Faction leader am required to answer and, in my absence, a 2ic is required.
Your threats of non interaction on this thread and my forum pms are pointless and they lead me to believe that you didn’t read what I wrote. The IMG is not a real life corporation that covers from bad reviews on Google so if a person who refuses to attempt to understand the situation and is acting like a entitled Karen is not a loss to this faction and it shall continue to exist and strive to provide quality rp to anyone who wishes to engage in such rp without any interaction from you as we probably already have.
Sam101 if you do not have anything constructive to say except to continue with unfunny snide remarks, I would ask that you refrain from posting here on faction feedback.
So If I understood you would have no issue if the IMG player killed him there and then but you take issue with the demand being unfair?
As you can see in the replies, im not the only one who thinks the demand was too high.
Your member should have killed me, yeah
I would have lost the cargo, that would mean 3m loss, but I only need to invest again 3m and not 5m.
So the 5m demand is too high if you like it or not.
If your member would have asked for 3m, I wouldn't have posted in your feedback thread, cuz I would have 2 options: paying your member with 3m or dying and buying again the niobium for 3m xD
That's the main point.
If you don't get it, it's not my problem.
The gc at the NT jh asked for 2ok credits, he could also killed me, but no, he doesn't and asked for a normal demand, so I would love to meet the gc ingame instead of your members.....
No, they couldn't have. GC doesn't have engagement lines on a Daumann Barge, they would be required to make a demand, and it would have to be reasonable.
And this is the part you clearly don't understand.
Sometimes, you might encounter someone who can just shoot you. A mercenary, when you or your faction is the target of a bounty, perhaps a Xeno, or a Nomad, or maybe a competitor outside of house space within their ZOI like, say, IMG in their main system.
In that case, they can simply shoot you. But they generously gave you a way out anyway, which they did not have to do.
In the past days I've been hearing clarifications on rules, not only on this topic, and I am surprised to see that even if they look fine at a first look, the clarification behind them leaves a lot of loops for people to use them to their goals. I was under the impression that everything should be done in good faith, but these loops prove the opposite, which may align with 1.0. Call me either a fool or naive. These are my two cents, feel free to delete for offtopic
This was in relation to a base, but the same applies for ship piracy.
Found this conversation in discord. Insane. I'm wrong on this one, I admit.
Wait! The guy who sieged a PoB or 2 out of pure spite and ego stroking is here on a high horse! Gallavant away noble knight! What a magnificent specimen of hipocrisy you are!
Meanwhile:
Topic on 30K of Niobium:
Price to purchase: 3M
Demand to live (when you could've been /1/2): 5M
Price to sell: 9.5M ~ 10.5M
Total "loss" = 5M
Profit: 4.5M - 5.5M
This was close as far as "Piracy" is involved, but you would've still made profit. Not much, but still profit.
But this wasn't piracy. He didn't issue any piracy demands. He issued a demand for your survival; when you; inRP; dug your own grave! What you experienced is called "Extortion" or "Blackmail".
You paid then you decide to complain and generate Disco Drama. Quaint.
IMG were in their rights to do that. Its like a Corsair catches an OSC Barge with 30K of Cardamine. Same scenario applies. Different prices tho.
BTW i remember all the pirate people complaining about no RP with people , how they always evade as much as possible. well this thread is a great example of why.............. UN| and EOS| are a couple of the faction who have been respectable and they are not avoided.........
Speaking as someone with a multitude of pirate characters (and the Dragon--not GC--pirate referred to in this post) I can say that isn't completely true--people still logoff, dock and hide, avoid, etc. even when you're a reasonable pirate (such as when I'm on LGN for example).
Generally if people stop when I pirate, I want a piece of their cargo (like the liner with Cigars the other day), or I ask for 20k. If they try to run at first, that amount goes up. If they keep trying to run, they die.
Example: MFN stopped. They were pissy as they are wont to do in this situation for being stopped in the first place (and how they would react in character). However, they stopped so I charged only 20k. Literally moments later, I caught a Freelancer smuggling Slog through Kusari. I could have popped him on principle alone, but instead charged 60k because of how annoyed my character was.
On topic, IMG could have just blown up the Barge. Honestly, I'm surprised they let him live as a Daumann Barge inside Tau-23 in the first place. As someone who practically lives in Tau-23, I've seen many deaths by IMG for infringing on their territory.
Lastly, I recommend we stay on topic lest this post be locked. The conversation is in regards to IMG feedback, not personal grudges against other players. I know I went off topic myself, but I felt I needed to speak as I felt the quote above needed clarification--and as the Dragon mentioned in this topic.
