In space 1st in space. Massive engine is not the same as fast ship. Massive amounts of fuel is the same as fast ship. Massive amounts of Specific impulse is the same as a fast ship. And to be fair in space 300m/s relative speed is pretty darned fast considering that today's space craft dock with about 2cm/s speed. So yeah. You can put a frikkin doomsday machine as an engine but it won't give massive acceleration for 2 seconds.



On the other hand Gameplay wise. Pirate Rogue-1 disrupts a lane, a lolzur drops out.

The trader engages the super after burner and thrust towards the next ring the CD flies 2139519756189576189 circles around him till it stops him but he is like 500 meters away from you and you can not catch to him before he docks neither your weapons can disrupt the line...Amen.

I passionatelly await the moment you'll propose Star Trek transporters, Death Star and Stealth Vipers...

Freelancer doesn't have that physics in fact (don't wanna start another argument 4 in a row is good enough) but just said that an afterburner would make then ship go cruise-like fast for short periods of time not about how it works, probably some sort of overdriven thruster.

CD would stop aterburners and disrupt them or make them slower (dunno if for same time as cruise engines or a bit longer), and their acceleration would be slow too but a bit faster than cruise engine so not a waste of it's charge, so by the moment h uses it he would get CD'd, I doubt it would last 7 KM to get to the other lane though.

[color=#FFFFFF]It doesn't need to be 7km mate! Besides you know ( at least I guess you know) that CD orbit for good 10 seconds before thy hit the target if they hit. There is an old saying ya know If it ain't broken don't fix it.

They're 7KM, I've got out of lanes to see.
What? CD orbiting for 10 seconds? most of them are hit scan to me, just heard "incoming mi--boom", they only orbit if I sucessfully evade and doing it with transport is hard.

IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE 7KM! He can just pull away 1km and you won't be able to catch him. Too much potential of abuse. Understand where I stand I want ot see a balaced gameplay.


But I cannot deny that those things are cool. I too would love to see afterburners functioning the the way they should, space fighters using multiple tracking missiles instead of gunss, orbital re-entries and mass driver cannons but the sad reallity is mate those things will upset the already upset ballance so much that the game would ultimately become caplancer or snublancer. If you want to use those things do like me - RP them. As long as you don't brake the general rules nobody can tell you anything about physics inRP

In fact, if a transport used afterburner and got even 1 KM then a smart pirate would just cruise to him, CD several times, when power's up then beat the frak out of him unless the transport player's a plugger-class ace pilot, so there's still balance for pirates' pirating rights. :laugh:

And the mass driver and orbital re-entry and the multi lock missiles aren't a bad idea, MUST POST!

It won't work.
Even if you make it drain 30% per second.

Why? You turn on that thing, and instantly use EK. Hit by CD? Repeat untill you get out of range.
Although, chasing party can do the same..

I remember there was a "warp drive" on some server, like 5 years ago. It was a thruster for capital ship, with 2500m/s speed, but it was draining about 50-75% per second. Just enough time for you to hit EK.

For cases of somebody getting it and using EK, CD would disrupt it from working, or cause it to go at normal thruster speed but still have the extremely low duration.

please post which case do you want For Balancing it.
