Over the past 6 months I have been playing on disco,I noticed a rather disturbing and annoying bug:laggy battleships.
The idea is that when one moves his battleship or capital ship,it tends to move in other direction .I mean if you move your battleship to right ,to others it will look like you move it in 3 other directions.Yes it is true.I have seen that lots of times, especially on osiris and liberty dreadnought. It just isn't realistic. In reality,USS Iowa doesn't move in 3 directions at the same time,it is barely moving, barely noticeable, but it moves quite fast for a battleship.
Well, let me tell you what I don't like about these battleships:
1.This lag.I hate when a battleship moves in other directions very fast at the same time. When a battleship turns right,I want it to see turning right.Everybody wants so.It's a common sense thing.Admins,if it is a lag issue, please fix it.We hate it.It's not fun to see a battleship 8k away spinning because of lag.
2.Battleship speed.
A battleship in real life is not as fast as a speedboat for example.Nor does it have such acceleration or turning speed.
In the game, all caps, even though they have long engine cruise charge times, they still hit 350k.Not realistic at all.For me,the top speed of a realistic battleship or cruiser would be 150-170k.The battleship is not a speeding boat,it is a battleship.Even though the osiris and li drdnought are the lightest battleships, this doesn't mean they should get 350k top speed, that is max top speed with unassisted cruise.I hate it when battleships start pursuiting lone fighters or other battleships.A battleship should be slow, even in cruise mode.
And acceleration. Our battleships here have 0 to 80 acceleration in 1-2 seconds, same like fighters. And the osiris has -50 backwards speed which it hits in 1 second.
How realistic is that?Since when a battleship accelerates like a fighter? Not realistic at all my friends.IMO,it should get 0-80 in 5-7 seconds. That's more realistic.
I do hope these things will get implemented in 4.86.It's common sense for me:)
Please let me know what you think about it

there is no resistance - but only gravity - but in order to make gravity a significant factor - ships would need to have a lot more mass.
in space - the power of your engine is more important - and with that in mind - a ship like the kusari dragon ( engine size of a pilot ) would be a lot slower ... when it comes to its top speed - than a liberty DN, which has an engine occupying roughly 30% of its entire mass.
or in other words - logic can only go so far in a space game.

Sorry to disturb you, but Battleships, as introduced in Freelancer don't exist in reallife.
A "realistic battleship or cruiser" as existing in reallife would never hit that suggested 380 miles per hour (170 m/s).
A realistic Battleship like used in the WWII would speed at around 33 knts, which is around 17 m/s.
<strike>So keep out the "reallife" here.</strike>
Sounded a little hard so:
Reallife comparations fail here.
I compared the real battleships we have in RL with real life speedboats. And then I compared a RL BS with a FL BS.Ofcourse a RL BS willnever hit such speed, its ilogic.

About the axxeleration and max speed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XJcZ-KoL9o - Feather and Ball dropped under vacuum. In this case the "Engine" of both, the earth gravitaion is as huge. Now imagine the ball would have an engine 50 times larger than that one of the Feather.
Edit: In this Example the Ball should represent the Battleship whilst the Feather stands for the smaller fighter.

A battleship shjouldn't behave like a speed boat.
Battleships do not have thrusters. Combat maneuvering is severely limited as a result. They turn -extremely- slow. The size and mass of the ship affects inertia, and therefor how gradual or fast a ship accellerates. Not what speed it tops out at.
As for the lag, it happens. Curse of being on the internet. If you or your opponent is on a crappy connection or just on the other side of the globe as the server, some lag happens. Outside of our control that.

Well, I understand your logic, but this is a game after all. You'll see a lot of strange things around Sirius. I recommend to play this game without involving physics and laws. It will spoil your gaming...
