Why do you guys want to control Cardamine commerce, already?

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

Well, as for the Xeno Alliance. We don't. We are totally against any type of drugs, slavery, corporate corruption. etc

I have heard that there a rumor to that effect, I wish it were removed.

I know that, but why would the Xenos be after it, in general? Surely there's a sort of goal behind it?

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

my only thought, and I am just guessing.. is that in vanilla freelancer, the xenos may be not as idealistic as the XA. thus, wanting to take away the business from the other pirate factions

There's really two ideas:

1. The Xenos are poor and need money.

2. The Xenos want to control the drug trade to give Xenos power.

The first one should be self-explanatory. If the Xenos smuggle Cardimine, they get a lot of money. Money means ships, training, weapons, and amenities.

The second one is a little more abstract and exhibits itself a lot more in Hudson than in Colorado or Kepler. Those Xenos seem to have a little different of an agenda than the other Xenos. They seem to have more of an independent spirit. The point of it is, though, a lot of Liberty elite are hooked on Cardimine. If the Xenos control the Cardimine, they control the elite. IE: they control the legislators, the judges, the governors, the executives, the lobbyists, etc.. The Xenos control the people who make the laws because they control the drugs the elite needs. At this point, they can eliminate LPI corruption and create new laws punishing foreign shipping and entanglement in Liberty. Not every victory is pretty. That victory definitely wouldn't be pretty, but it'd definitely be a Xeno victory.

Bacon essentially pegged it.

While many attempt to portray otherwise I feel very strongly that Cardamine is the drug of the social elite. You don't take slave gathered drugs from another planet from the other side of the sector and drag said drug through a few blockades in order to drop it off at prices competitive with mundane affairs such as meth or its future equivalent.

I mean, we have Cryer in the future, I'm sure it's not much of a trick to pick up something which'll get your rocks off or stop the dogs in your head from barking for pennies on the dollar compared to what some Malta orange will run you.

As such, being in a position to dictate the flow of the ruling classes favorite party favor and/or source of chemical dependency strikes as being a rather potent tool indeed in terms of effecting political weight.

That's always been my observation in regards to the Xenos and Cardi.

Also, hell, money to be made. It's not like, for reasons already outlined, that you're polluting your support base by allowing Cardamine through. When the people backing you up are at the grassroots level they're not seeing a wiff of the stuff. Though there is the issue of their bodies being hauled off to Malta. That's something of a problem.

Kinda signed,

Ex Xeno Alliance faction something something.

Just to add a little to what Dusty and Bacon have said. I have always assumed this is the real reason Xenos are hitting the Junkers and Rogues so hard. Not to stop the flow of cardi but to corner the market themselves.

Ever since I read that rumor a long time ago I keep thinking more and more that may be a good direction for the Xeno NPC faction to take. *waits for Tanker to kill his char off*
