I personally like the mars flier. My thoughts brief-a-fied:

Weapons: Just right, it's an exotic, however change the turrets to normal guns.

Make weapons & equipment unmountable, see the weapon "Blockade Runner" in Evolutions, that is their admin weapon and it doesn't even show up when it's equipped on the ship, the only time you see it is when you are flying and it's in your selected weapons screen.

I personally love the mars flier, I saw a player in delta flying it, and IMO it didn't feel out of place, the sights and sounds the oddity produced was a nice change, and prompted me to purchase one on Just_Josh's temp server the other day to try it out, the weapons are good, yes, but on that ship they are balanced, they just need to be restricted to that ship like intended. Same goes for the Shields & Thrusters.

As for the BS Turrets, I agree with previous posts, damage on *ALL* bs turrets needs to receive a x2 and BS shields need a x2 aswell.

I am for this ship staying.
It doesn't look like that off from Freelancer itself and it really is a nice *bonus* adition to discovery - we were supposed to "discover" new things, right?

I mean, it is fun to have things a little different - and I admit this model is a real masterpiece, from looks to sound it makes - else, we would be just playing old vanilla.

The weapons should just be used in the propper place but there are people who:
- likes to ruin the game;
- are not mature enough to be fairplaying...

And then, just let me place this quote here:

" Ohh Look some spent alot of time and money to work on a character and now there stronger than me, lets ban the Marsflyer so they can't do it again "

Precisely! You are not supposed to defeat a marsflyer that easily!!
With this in mind, I am for keeping the weapons as they are.

What's more, there's the battleship issue.

Dudes remember this is an old (old) thread, like 2 Discovery versions ago.... many of the issues have been resolved since.

The Marsflier guns for example, have been seriously nerfed since this thread started.

Anyway when I bought a Marsflier I thought it must be the kick-ass VHF of all time, with that price tag..... but I was very disappointed. Its no better than a Titan at 9x the cost. Just a huge, slow target.

The "special" guns run down your energy in ~2 sec.... I ended up turning off the side guns and using "stem" only. The "special" shield is only a bit better than the Adv.L.10 VHF shield. The "special" thruster is no better than.... hell, there's nothing "special" about the m/f in any way.

I couldn't even take on 8 nomads, but maybe I'm a crappy pilot.... and forget about using that tank for combat in the asteroids of O/minor. IMHO any VHF can take out a m/f 1-on-1.

I can't believe I wasted $18m on that junk. For just $5m more I could have bought a Destroyer, with many guns and a huge shield. The Marsflier is a real turkey.

Having said that I say we should keep the m/f. It's a cute bit of retro, it's kitch, like playing Elvis on an 8-track in your Sabre. People can buy it if they want to.

But at least it's not the worst ship in the fleet.... that award goes to the Nomad gunboat. (which I fly for the challenge) :crazy:
