I don't see why it wouldn't work.

If it's only seeing Vanilla content, I can't remember if FLDS includes an option to change where it sees your FL install, so try changing the FL path in the registry to where you installed Discovery.

FL DS works for me. You just need to rename your Discovery Freelancer install folder to "Freelancer".
