Does cargo piracy actually have any decent selling points for a significant enough number of commodities (inc. ores) now to make cargo piracy even pay for it's own repairs then?

No, not to my knowledge, really. That's where the Privateer ID comes in handy:-)

Definitely, just sell to players, not commodity dealers.
L'ane is pretty much useless as a piracy ship atm, it's nothing special. No a large powercore, not a lot of guns (only 7 foward/backward afaik), it's tad slow. It's sexy looking though.
As for the GAT, well, that ship is one of the best trader-combat ships out there, I bounty hunt with it... on bombers. It's quick, nice arcs (not the best though), it's small, if I remember right all 8 guns can fire forward, great core, a lot of armor (base armor is 120k, which is a lot for a transport, especially of that small size). Mine also have a CAU 8.
Oh and Bret liner with pirate ID is for those of you who:

You mean, a Junker with a cau8 slave liner pirating 5k silver haulers in Tau 31 and then selling it 20k away for a profit of 35 millions?
Yea, such selling points exist. And such opportunities. Unfortunately.
