Had a chance to work on my combat skills again today with Shamus and Shining. I must admit, I needed the practice. It isn't easy to dispatch a well piloted Viper and Shamus is brutal in combat. I was headed out to "explore" and map... and learned that there were two Harveys in the Sigma systems...hmmm. Haven't really explored those Systems...maybe...
Oh Blast! My ship systems powered down again. I hate it when the little red flashy warning light comes on. It's happening quite a bit lately. Will have to get the engineers to look at that. I did have a nice chat with Coolant.Leak up at Shasta. Beamed over some brownies for the crew. Those big ships impress me, but perhaps Kyte is right... I should be patient. Naw... I'm gonna keep exploring and improving my skills. I'm sure they'll be called on soon enough. Bru is being a pain, I saw a really nice armour upgrade and asked my brother to help out with the cost, he's not donated to "the cause" and I think it's unfair for Kyte to have to pay for my toys alone. Perhaps I should just give him the cold shoulder... let him think I'm mad at him. Of course, I could never be or at least stay mad at him for too long. *grins.
I've got to do something about these power outtages, it's really putting a wrinkle in my plans. I'm sitting here floating for no go reason and I'm itching to get going... come on....!!! *sighs. What if this were to happen in combat, eh? I'd be a dead girl. Now how would Kyte and Bru get along without me? Hmmm. Best not to think about such things. Just relax and wait for the power to come back on. I hate this!
It finally happened. I went exploring with Vic, a fellow Zoner, who was in need of a mini razor, so of course, we went to Gran C. To get him one. No worries there. Then we just explored, ended up in Omi Theta, where we ran into Harvester 15. Well, there were other Zoner warships there, including one very BIG ship. The Harvester stated it's intention to evade and fled into Omni Gamma, via the jumphole. Without missing a beat, Vic and I pursued and over took the Toaster and engaged. It didn't take but 4 minutes to vaporize the thing and rescue the Zoner captives, which were returned to the nearest Freeport, in Theta, of course. I'm afraid the BHG got a bit too close to the action and we wound up lighting up a few of them as well, most unfortunate. In any case, I'm pleased to log that a Gunboat and a fighter working in concert, can indeed take out a Harvey Cruiser. I kept my promise to Kyte and didn't go it alone, but ooooh it felt soooo good! The practice sessions have most certainly paid off. I'll be exploring further after some rest. What a grand day!
Today I was officially brought into TAZ. Dizzy and Mal decided that I needed a larger ship. Who was I to argue. I've named her Phalynx after the Spartans, whom have always been a source of motivation for me. I've got her just about where I want her and I've moved the fuzzy dice over. The nice thing about this vessel is that she can be manned by a minimal crew, with her automated systems. A bonus indeed. With the customizations, a stronger sensor array and armor plating, I've had the shipyard increase lateral thrusters to help with impulse maneuvering. Still, I think I'm going to be right at home aboard her. Kyte is gonna flip out when she sees this beauty.
Kyte did flip out, I sent her a message complete with images and specs on Phalynx and she responded with, "Girl... you are going to get yourself into SOOO much trouble" Then she told me about the planned trip to Gammu. I'm going to get MYSELF in trouble? Bah! I sometimes think she can't see the forest for the trees. The word is we're not to have any warships in the vicinity to assist if needed, nor none in reserve. I take exeception to this. I mean the toasters are setting this up TOTALLY to their advantage... their turf, limiting our ability to respond should things go bad... it's like setting a child into shark infested waters in a cage made of linguine...flimsy at best. Don't get me wrong, I trust Dizzy... I understand the need to try... but do we have to declaw ourselves completely? Who is to say that this isn't a toaster strudel aimed at wiping out some key people in one fel swoop? Nothing better happen to them. They come back with so much as a... Oh I'll just go on a rampage. Have teeth WILL bite!
I've been given instructions to further map and break in Phalynx. With pleasure! I'll just mosey about the Omni systems and see what I can see. Of course I'd rather camp out in Kappa, but per orders, such is not the case. I did however learn that there have been some problems in Omni Delta. I'm going to contact Freeport 11 and see if they need any assistance, meanwhile I'm headed that way. I cannot believe the audacity of some folks. Well, I'm sure if it can be sorted it will... or I'll let Phalynx do the talking. NO ONE attacks a Freeport. NO ONE~!
