nope, i see it that way too.
but the devs suddenly just dumped the technology into sirius with no RP background or possible connections to anything other than, get nomads, build a base, any base will do. could be a tea house.
Yeah, at least Shatten has infocards HINTING at cloaking tech in the works based off Nomad Tech. I dunno if any other station has any such thing though.
' Wrote:They're supposed to be rare, but that doesn't mean most people won't know about them. I mean, we know about cloaking devices now, so of course they'll know about them in the future. Whether or not they're feasible is the clincher.
They should have been easily feasible since day one, they had cloaks back in Sol in Starlancer.
I still don't think everyone and their grandmother should be able to make them, however. I believe it should be restricted to militaries and agencies; petty pirates like the Rorry's Renegades or Liberty Rogues shouldn't have the tech nor resources to make them.
I believe the cat came out of the bag concerning that tech due to the Nomad War. Wild ships were human ships that the Wild (Nomads) adapted cloaks for. They were pretty much appearing everywhere in Sirius.
Interesting enough that there isnt a current way for Wild or Nomads to make the bases needed to make the cloaks.

I think it became public knowledge when the Chancellor's Fleets were being encountered in various locations all around Sirius. Or when they wanted to escape.
Regarding having the inRP knowledge to create such devices, I think noone except House militaries, Order or other militaristic factions like Blood Dragons/Hessians have the potential/resources to build such things. I am considering to not allow IMG| ships to use them in order to preserve that attribute.

Disallowing construction and telling your faction to use them are two TOTALLY different things.
I wouldn't doubt for a second the IMG would have the money to buy cloaking devices, but they likely wouldn't have the know-how to build them.
' Wrote:True, then just keep the construction forbiddance from my previous post.
It just occurred to me that it would still make a lot of sense to restrict them internally, as they'd represent a large investment on the corporation's part.
